Long time since ive been on the forum--in any case--I moved to iowa for a year and couldnt find non-ethanol gas anywhere--My bike was running fine before parking for winter--then the bike sat with ethanol gas thru the winter and I did use stabil--but the bike still wouldnt start/run right/bogged after summer restart---I then moved again twice (now in upstate ny) and had another baby---so the bike repair took a backseat...
in any case after abt 3 yrs sitting--Finally trying to get the bike going again---im assuming most of my issues are carb related/plugged pilot jets--so trying to service the carbs..
This is a first for me and its giving me issues--hoping to get some advice here...It was a pain to get the carbs off (us bike with stock airbox) and am dreading rerouting cables/putting it back but thats another story...I finally have them mostly disassembled but have some q's..
1)I heard the float valve seat is a press in--should it be removed to clean with the rest of the carb--did clean everything else and if so--can it be reused/put back in or needs replacement? Best way to get it out needle nose pliers?
2)I'm not sure if I damaged the throttle valve or it was already damaged but was trying to get an opinion here to see if its minor or needs replacement
3)What is the spring in the picture next to the top gasket? I don't remember noticing it in disassembly--I found it after ultrasonic cleaning the carbs--so assuming it was inside somewhere? Cant figure where looking at the parts diagram though...
4)Where can I get the top gaskets? like the one in pic--seem to be backordered at bikebandit
5)Bike is presently jetted with stock carbs/airbox with non catalysed canadian cigar pipes as 20pilot and 260mains--does that seem correct?
6)Normal position for overflow/drain bowl screw--all the way in? Normal position for idle air screw 1/1/4 turn out?
7) Float height to be set/measured with or without gasket?
Sorry if these seem to be silly questions but im taking my time and trying to learn--any input very appreciated!
