LOL Hondaror you need to google a bit more, the hybrid engine idea has been around for a long time for those who enjoy the LC shape but want to go faster... and there are some very sweet modded LCs out there. I love headcoates' bike well enough... but reckon mine's better... LOL! Y'see that's the thing about modding, you do it for yourself. If other people like it then good, but its never done for others.

Yes the engine drops straight in and you just need to sort the wiring out :smt002
I like the YPVS engine a lot but also like the simplicity of the LC motor but if I had the money I would get Athena barrels or something

I DO however love the rest of the LC's looks as it was this bike I had as a kid and just get a big nostalgia trip everytime I swing a leg over it :smt033

Anyway I don't fight anymore unless Roger The Dodger makes a re appearance :smt005

Headcoats, your bike is beautiful, very well done. I'm not trying to start anything. I was an LC flogger in my day. I loved mine. Rode it for 10 seasons.
The YPVS frame is much stiffer, handles much better. I was a racer way back, and LCs on the edge are super twitchy. I raced mine in the same class as the YPVSs and there is no comparison in the handling department, or the power as you know.
The LC power punch is such a blast to ride, more so than the linear YPVS, but the later is such a pleasure to rip around on. I just recently chose the YPVS model, because I believe it's an excellent platform to work with. Like you said, the simpler motor is a draw for the LC. As an LC fan, I'd be doing the reverse of what you've done. (Which I may end up doing). I was just curious as to why you chose that route, and you've answered my question. You like the memories it brings back, and the YPVS advantages. All the power to you if it turns your crank. Great looking build!

Just fit the Athena barrels to the YPVS / Banshee bottom end... you have a very powerful simpler motor :)

+1

I think a standard stroke 392cc Athena could make a very nice motor for an LC and not too expensive if carefully specced with not so large carbs.

+1 to that Winner, Roger built a 421 with standard carbs on this forum and it still made good power.

Not to hijack, but re pipe thread in engine section Jon. Im almost finished the 421 LC, and ready to Jet the PWK 28's. for the increased CCs What have you started with on yours.
The biggest I have are 45 and 145.( I drilled the 145's with a 1.5 drill, which almost fitted in any way) I reckon ive taken them to 155 max. That's not gunna be the worry, the needle and pilots will be. As we know the n68x or n99 are the ones to run on the 350, has anyone tried a particular needle for the increase to 421.
I can find a ton of info on bigger carbs for the 421, but not much on the PWK28 / 421.
Im hunting for a starting point for the 28's. Which will save me a bit of time in the initial tuning faze. Anybody done it?

Nar Mate, but it would be nice if he chimed in once in a while, considering how often he is promoted on here, has he got his site back up yet, its been down for about 2 years?
Ill figure the jetting out mate, was just looking for an easy start from a trusted source. Im sure Bare, Headcoats, Mutts, Kenny,TDR , Slinger or someone with a bit of history will chime in.

Well for a start I wouldn't be drilling any jets :smt024

I have 152 mains in mine with 45 pilots (rich) N68 needle on middle clip air screw 1 3/4 turns out with Ramair filters V Force4 etc

I would get some genuine jets and at least 155 ?

Drilling jets makes me nervous, unless you clearly wipe out the old mark and mark their new size.

Cheers man, Im yet to find a supplier of the N68.
I had ordered two from cascade inovations in North America, but the next day they canned it, said they didn't deliver to Auz.

I have one N68x from a mate, I just gotta find another

LOL, Join the club!

I've just discovered my pair of carbs have an N68X & an N99E needle. I've now got to check the slides are the same, as KR's came with a 3.5 & 4.0 slide depending on model year. :smt013

If you find an N99E you can have my N68X. :smt001

Edit: I was told an N427-46-HLH is similiar to an N68X needle.

Have you tried Allens in the UK for these needles? I had some form them a while back (couple of years) for my bike.
