:smt023 Thanks

A show this weekend, so I cleaned up all the two stroke residue all over the back of the bike from my break in rides.
Got all the new chain grease off the swingarm and rear wheel.
And all the damn bugs that hang out in the woods during spring.....

....being a bike built to ride, it wont look like new for long.
But there are a lot of rainy days in summer here, and plenty of snow in the winter to give me time to keep it clean.

:smt023 Thanks

I should never have waited so many years to get one of these....
But finding the right one with an aluminum frame (RZV) and having the money to buy, never happened until now...
....well actually about a 1 1/2 years ago... :smt003

Severely outdated even with the better wheels/brakes/suspension.... It's still the coolest bike in the garage

Once a project is done, I think to myself....No more of these damn long term money pits....
And I had myself convinced of that....until I saw a bike on auction that started out so low....I had to take a bite of the bait, and got hooked.

1991 TZR250SP 3XV2.... lots of numbers and letters, but it is as close to a genuine TZ250 for the street as I will ever get.
500 produced for Japanese home market F3/TT racing
Verified as having the correct SP parts....swingarm/fully adjustable front forks/fully adjustable rear shock/extra bracing in frame/special crank with TZ style seals and bearings/TZ style cylinder porting with o-ring head gaskets/TZ reed valves/36mm powerjet carbs/different speedo and tach mounting/dry clutch/close ratio trans/and more....
http://pure2strokespirit.net/redandblue ... ure_jp.pdf

Although it needs a complete go through.....all the hard to find parts are there....

Bought in Japan, my buyer had it delivered to her shop, and made sure it was the real thing.
Now in a crate sailing it's way to the west coast....then the crate heads to Chicago where I will get it.

Should be in my garage by first of Sept.......the calm before the storm.

Quite nice. I missed out on a NC30 last week here in Calif.
bids were at $3000.00 on E Bay...didn't even think it would sell close to that, as most sell around 10k, didn't bid on it....so she sold for ( just above) 3k and some lucky soul walked away with it .. lol 🙄
I'm gonna ask you for some painting advice soon, regarding the newer paints etc..here in Calif I'm restricted to water based paints only.....never sprayed water/auto paint before. Thinking of buying old school paint from Arizona or Nevada.

Thanks guys :smt023
Hope it looks as good in real life as it does in pics.....although that is rarely the case...

As far as waterbased paint.....I have tried it way back when it first came out.
....I did not like it in any way....and have never had to use it since luckily.
We use RM/BASF paint where I work. Not the very best available, but you can get a show finish with some practice and luck.
My RZ350 still shines....although it never gets dirty either... :smt003

The TZR is up and running after some minor surgery....had to go through the trans to get to the waterpump seal.
Not restored at this point (the RGV was up first), but is now a functional survivor for this season.
