Fzr Deltabox /RD350lc

#1 Post by Stankflapper » Sun Oct 14, 2012 4:17 pm

Hi all, My name is Macca and I love playing about with my two strokes. A few weeks back I spotted a FZR250 Deltabox(4cyl 4 stroke) bike on ebay cheap, so I decided to fit a RD350LC motor I had not being used in my shed.
I will post some more pics as I get further along the build, I dont know if this has been done before but it should not be too bad a bike when finished(I hope) :smt002

Assembled the engine up with new pistons and rings, now slotted it back into the frame, then fitted up some old RD chambers I have here.
Now its now down to the wiring , where I would like to keep the existing FZR loom and use the Rd, CDI unit and coil. This will mean all the other lights ect wiring will not have to be disturbed, I figure it has gotta be better than replacing the whole loom.

Very nice. How much weight reduction do you expect?

Thanks for the encouragement fellas, I am not sure of the standard weight, but I will weigh the bike when completed.

Well I was successful in keeping the existing wiring loom, and just ditching the FZR computer and coils and wiring in the RD350 CDI and the RD coil. This now means I just have to use a cable tach as the FZR elec tach reaches 20 and was pulsed by the FZR computer.
But apart from that I an happy that all the lights, temp gauge, and switch gear remains the same on the bike.

I would think you will have issues as the ADR's as far as i remember state you cannot replace an engine with an older engine. this was due to emissions so it made sense in cars, but im fairly certain they also applied it to bikes even though at the time it would have been irrelevant.
