Looking at titanium for the R6 rear axle.

$454 + shipping from onlinemetals.com. Just for this one piece.

Plus the gun drilling and machining costs.

Me and my great ideas. :smt011

New place got back to me. Tiger Metals is awesome.

The 1.750" x 13" titanium bar from Online Metals is $454 (they don't have 1.625")

The 1.625" x 13" titanium bar from Tiger Metals is $155 :smt104

All 6 bars I need are less than $500 from Tiger Metals.

Back on track! :partyman:

Titanium swingarm pivot nut is done.

Well, I may cut off 1mm from the flange to shorten it, and cut down the (future) bolt 1mm as well.

The fit is perfect on the OEM pivot bolt.

Progress is slow on the other titanium parts.

Titanium rear axle nut is a pretty good match with the swingarm pivot nut.

One hole is threaded for a grub screw which puts pressure on a delrin plug. The delrin plug is cut into the threads and will lock the nut.

Finally got the new shock.

I'd like to do a custom hose, fittings, banjo bolts, and polish + gold titanium nitride the locknut on the length adjuster.

The adjuster screws on the reservoir are already gold, which is a plus. There are stickers on the shock and reservoir. Need to remove those right away.

Got the (steel) rear shock connecting arms chromed.

Chrome is a good base for titanium nitride coating.

Not sure about TiN.. They look pretty good and match the polished link.

Thanks, and I agree. But, if I make titanium relay arms - they will have gold TiN coating - so, I may want to match those. Can't really know until I get further along with the roller.

Had to send some titanium to the gun drilling shop. May as well get started on the front end conversion.

Got a new tool to try out.

Been thinking about adjustable triples for this bike. When raising the rear of my RZ350, I noticed the fork rake getting steeper and was wishing I had gone with some adjustable triples.

So, I started looking into adjustable triples - and got some bad news. I mistakenly thought they would adjust the rake - but they don't. They only move the trail forward or backward. Maybe that will help compensate for a steeper rake, but I'm not sure. I think only Ducati has an adjustable (rake) steering head.

I do have some adjustable triples in mind, just have to take measurements and figure out how to make them fit before I pull the trigger. My original plan was to use some custom billet triples, but sometimes function wins over style. Of course... I prefer to have both!

Races came right out using the new tool. Now, I can measure for conversion bearings.

Hey! Twist of the wrist! I remember reading those books along time ago.
How does the tool work to get the races out, I don't see it :smt017

Last month I got a CBR250R for my brother. His first bike, so I thought "Twist 1" is something he should read. Not many books have a chapter titled "How to Fall".

Slip the tool inside the head tube and seat it fully on the race lip. The tool forces the race to come out squarely when tapped with a hammer.

Just used this other tool to remove the ball race from an R6 lower triple.

Ordered some roller bearings from All Balls to see how things fit with used OEM R6 parts that I have.

Aha.
So are you going R6 front and rear? And wheels too?
