Streetfighter RZV Roller

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Got the connecting rods. In excellent condition.
Thanks for the help!
The plan is to powdercoat these rods and the steel relay arms to match the Wilbers shock spring.
Got 2 pounds of matching powder for these parts and some other stuff.
Looks more pink than Pure Red.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
I contacted Sergio about the availability of his 7075 billet relay arms and suspension link.
But, the relay arms don't look difficult to make, and I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on some custom grade 5 titanium relay arms. I'm not an engineer, though - so I don't know which would be better.
There's also an RZV titanium swingarm pivot bolt in the works. Got a sample coming in for measurement.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Finally received the elusive RZV500 Swingarm Pivot Bolt. Hopefully the machine shop won't take too long to cut my titanium version (and a titanium OEM style for the bolt owner).
I'm going to change up the head a bit, and the length.
Spent more than half the day figuring out what nut to use.
Finally found the nut I want, but will have to modify it to fit. Had to figure out the Rear Axle Nut and Steering Head Nut at the same time.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Also received the RZV "Special" Bolt, Nut and Collar. Mine are in pieces after removing them from the bike, due to rust and corrosion.
Looking at these parts to see how they can be modified to prevent the Relay Arm Collars from cracking.
Then, I'll see how (titanium nitrided) titanium parts hold up.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Thanks, Vin!
Perfect... except now I'm afraid to buy it!
Need to check the OEM fitment and get some measurements first.
I'm gonna contact that seller anyway. Could be another source for titanium bobbles.
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
The seller is an RZ enthusiast and he's willing to make some more parts, if he can.
I'm going to try to have the titanium suspension parts made close to home.
Can't think of anything else I need made out of titanium, at the moment. I must be slipping!
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Stripped the bearings, seals, and grease fittings from the suspension link.
Will start smoothing and polishing it next.

Well, there's lots of good reasons to build bikes - but the best one is because it makes me happy.two-stroke-brit wrote:smoker i love all the Ti parts and kudos to you for sourcing them ,

So, I build bikes for myself, in my own way.
If nobody ever saw my bike, it wouldn't matter. I would know that unfinished part is in there - and that I could have done it better. That road doesn't lead me to happiness.

I was gonna post pics of your beautiful link, but I didn't want to drag you into a debate.
Awesome photo of your excellent work.
Looking at YOUR bike makes me happy too.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Was just looking at your pic, and it struck me that the Wilbers coil is the same color as the custom coil on my WR250X.
Didn't realize this before, and feel lucky that I chose a different color for my Wilbers coil! I like the blue, but don't want the same on both bikes.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Hit the link with the polishing wheel, but it looked too rough.
Started smoothing it, but have a long way to go.
