At Kenny´s Ranch

#1 Post by wolfgangh » Tue Feb 19, 2013 5:19 pm

Thanks to a regular member of this board with strong contribution to the community, I met "King" Kenny Roberts at his ranch. He showed my his private museum and we spent an hour or so in his workshop, where he is currently building a dirttrack bike, including his own frame, swingarm etc. This was one of the most exciting days in my life. Holy crap, Wolfgang, that's unbelievable  That must've been the highlight of your trip to the U.S.

Are there any more pics of your visit to Kenny's Kingdom? :smt029

Yes I took loads of pictures, but I don´t want to intimitate Kenny´s private sphere too much. A few I can show I think.
I was close to meet Wayne Rainey the next day (thanks to Brian again), but he was not in town.

Trust me, this was like paradise for me. I had all the time in the world to check all these little details on Wayne´s bike (which I built a replica from).

Wolfgang, i just figured out from your picture why that 3 cylinder motor never did run that good :smt017 ? We must have being using the wrong pistons in it. When Bud said "powervalves",,,, I said,,, :smt011 we used pistons that the "Valves" won't hit :smt009
Post more pictures is fine. I'm use the people would like to see more.

I met Eddie Lawson in Lake Havasu in the grocery store  And Wayne Rainey @ Willow Springs ..TO EACH I just said a basic hello Im a old fan of yours.
Get this in 88/89 Fred Merkel actually pulled up along side me and some friends on the frwy in Newport Beach, Calif...and gave us the thumbs up on our bikes "race replicas" and invited us all to his house for a party..NO KIDDING.!! He had just won the World Superbike Championship and a Former AMA champion as well! How cool was that for a bunch of 20 yr old kids..That guy was seriouslly a talented rider..a party animal :partyman: But still had what it took to beat Rainey, and many other top racers from time to time w no trainig or dedication...Kinda like Scott Russel was..True rare breeds all of them.
BUT...YOUR LIL ACTUALLY UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL TOUR OF THE IMFAMOUS RANCH...MUST HAVE BEEN DAMMNED EXCITING FOR YOU ESPECIALLY!..IF ANYONE DESERVES IT ITS YOU,THE BIKES LITERALLY OF YOUR DREAMS OF WHICH YOU HAVE SPENT THE BETTER PART OF 1/3 OF YOUR LIFE CREATING REPLICAS...BET YOU FELT JUST LIKE A KID IN A CANDY STORE. GOOD FOR YOU , BRAVO : :smt023 :smt023
Motorcycles & Cars Where even a brain dead monkey can build something as equally cool as a millionare, gotta love it

This has only been possible through Brian who virtually goes in and out at Kenny's and Wayne's places. Brians shop was as exciting as Kenny's museum, I saw an extremly high level of twostroke technology and craftmanship there (and his model train). If I lived closer to Brian, I would be bankrupt already.
I am seriously planning to invite him for a week or 2 to Austria and have him build pipes for my second evolution of the Rainey Replica.

Yeah, the bikes are sick - but I want the Kenny mannequin sitting at my dining room table!

Congrats on meeting the King.
