Hello. Long time i posted here but will share what i am up to now.
I have a project that i had thinking of for a long time now.
Building this machine for testing and measuring the ignition energi that the source coil put out.
First test the RZ350 system and the see how much it can be improved.
After that i will also test the RZ500 System.
Still waiting for some parts to finish the machine.

The source coils on any RD350/500 can be very easily "improved" by using a DC CDI which makes them obsolete.
I always wanted to build a similar testrig to check things like strobing a stock ignition curve but never had enough time...
Actually not on the RD, but for example on the VTR1000 which has a 3D map advance vs. TPS and rpm plus even a temp signal influencing it.
Secondly you could easily test trigger wheel setups to get rid of wasted sparks. (Lots of people use additional trigger wheels shrinked/welded on stock rotors in the Megasquirt EFI scene)
Some more videos of my testing. Actually i will use both the source coils and a dc-dc converter and combine those two together.
Then the dc-dc don't have to use so much power from the battery.
I have also tested a modified flyweel with 2 pickup to remove the wasted spark.
Also done some test with dc-dc converter. We will see what the outcome will be when i am finished.
That combined concept with source coils and ferrite core was used by Ron Chinoy (RD Dreams) back in 2005.
The unit I tested had issues in the blending range between source/DC. I was told it later worked for a Swedish tester.
From my point of view it still has the disadvantage that you need working source coils. (That's the top ignition failure on YPVS RD's)

Yes i remember Chinoy. But did not know that he did the same with combining sourcecoil and dc-dc.
But as you say, the sourcecoil fail somtimes.
I will atlest try that concept and se how it works, and if there are any issus combining those to i will see when using in my test machine.
Maybe you can explaine litle more about the problem whit that system you tested?
Did you notice any benefit when driving whith his system?
You not tested in an dyno?

Performance was good (as with any other programmable CDI) and pricing was competitive.
The issue was that you had an engine stumble around 6k like you hit the kill-switch for a few milliseconds accompanied by a jerking tach needle.
We weren't able to track down the issue to something on the bike, so I sent the unit back to India.
I suspected either a software or hardware flaw at handing over from source coils to the ferrite core but never got to know what really caused the effect.
Even worse he gave up business at that time, too.
Short time later Borut from Zeeltronic.com started with his CDI/VCDI concept which worked out of the box.
(I was doing the beta testing for his units and there's still some of my German manual translations on his homepage)
