From King Carbon UK. RD84's 1991 YZR500 fairing modded for the RZ/RD/RZV finally arrived. Seems well made, light and strong with carbon reinforcing at mounting points. I wasn't expecting it to be fitted with fasteners, Bonus.

To be clear. The version I ordered is Modded sides and belly, and a standard YZR upper, not Paul's modded upper.

Hi John,

It needs a new front subframe but will otherwise fit the stock frame and airbox - 2 of the side mounting points mount to the airbox as per the original fairing - elsewhere you will need to make up some custom brackets. On my bike I'm going to get some brackets welded to the frame - however I think you will be able to do some bolt on brackets using existing features on the bike such as radiator mounting brackets, front tank mounting point etc.

Are there different versions avail from them? Last I checked they didn't even have any photos on their website??

What are your thoughts of these fitting a YZR/3Ma conversion.? Obviously aware there's no bolt on, but basic opinion on a smaller frame than the RZ.

King Carbon make a YZR500 fairing but it may be a Harris version? I asked them if they could do mine with their standard upper. RD84's version is a bit different and uses a Gustafson shield. I think it's a very thin Gelcoat but not positive, and quite thin single layer woven cloth type fiberglass, so it's quite flexible.

Hard to say on a 3ma build but this fits the engine well so a likely bet it may fit.

Also to note that the side vent is highly modified to accommodate the standard airbox. There is a slit vent but I may open mine up a bit to more closely resemble the YZR since I will be running TM28's with pod filters. It shows well in the top Photo
