Wow! Ken, that's crappy news about your son. So glad he's ok. Time may put him back on a bike, on the road. Smart people learn from mistakes, not that a lefty in front is any mistake of your own doing, as we all know. Give him my best. I support whatever he chooses to do. You know where I'm coming from.

Thanks Rory. Yes I know where you are coming from. I hope yours has fully recovered.

I've told him many times that was his lucky day. If he was inches more into that car, the outcome would have been much worse. It's quite bizarre that this happened out on a country road like that. He called me right after it happened and the nice guy (actually he was nice) took him to his house about 10 miles away so he clean him and wanted to pay him cash right then and there. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

No hurry for him to get back on a bike. Momma's happy about that. And even though he was my riding buddy and we had lots of great father son time riding together, this is a dangerous hobby so I kind of feel the same way.

And I'll take a bit of credit for teaching him well. ATGATT All the gear all the time. Full up safety gear saved him from much worse medical issues. The worst thing for him was a major deep rash on one arm due to wearing a mesh summer jacket. If he had his leather jacket on he would have fared better. He also had some deep bruising that took quite some time to heal up.

On a good note, insurance paid full retail replacement value for all his gear, he got about double what he paid for the bike, all medical has been 100% covered, and he's ready to get a "settlement" for pain and suffering.

Thanks again for your comments!!!

PS Wear your gear people. :smt045

Glad your son is okay!

Wish my brother wouldn't ride bikes on the street, but I understand.

My son is up and struggling to walk, with a walker/cane. Nerve damage is bad. He drags his now weaker, right leg. He spends some time in his wheelchair. He was not supposed to walk, so it's awesome. He's still doing post secondary school. Driving himself around in his own car, with a left side gas pedal. He'll never get back to his old self, but he has an appreciation for life. He does want to ride again, conquer his R6. I get it. I don't like it, (Rods in his back), but he has drive, and I love that. Life can be really tough, but life is good. Making the best of your situation, again, is good!

Woke up Sat morning to a 2 inch water main gusher. Digging and playing with clay for hours. No riding that day.

The hazards of daily living, the water main. Glad you can get out for a spin. We are eagerly waiting, up north. I enjoy the "feet on the pegs" slides in the stones left behind from winter sanding.

It was about 70 today. :smt023

Needed to test ride the GW after installing a hartco seat, highway pegs, and doing some other upgrades and fixes.

Miss the EARLY springs in Cali. Seems spring in the PNW is 3 to 4 months behind by comparison.

Use to ride the San Jose side of Mt. Hammy all the time, until moving in 2004. You do any recent runs to Skyline/ 9 / Alice's?

Had a video done on 9 years ago.

if you want to really see speed...watch above from 8:10 mark onward. King of the hill at the time (videographer, that is!).
