Martin, thanks for the info!
Yes, I think programmable ignition is what I'll be using. In any case, I do not have any now, and I will have to buy.

It's not that I avoid saying where I'm from. I have added this information in my profile description. I just thought that now people have different opinions about what is happening in the world, and I would not like to discuss politics in this wonderful forum. Yes, I am from Russia, but now it is difficult for us to purchase parts from abroad, but there are already a lot of options for how to do this. Which is what I use regularly. Therefore, this is not such a big problem, and the parts have not become much more expensive for us than they were. The price level remained about the same.

As for the chassis, I agree, I need 17th wheels and a more modern suspension system.
As for the engine, I'm still in the process of studying. The banshee way seems easy, but I'm afraid it's going to be a low-handling bike, like the two-stroke motocross (MX) bikes of the '90s that had a lot of power in the high end and little in the low end, and that created an explosive character. That's why I still think using YPVS is a good idea. As a last resort, I can always do the 250 51l that I have. But as usual, you want to do as you dream right away.

Thanks for the links, I will read them.

By the way, I was thinking about re-sleeving the second pair of 51l cylinders that I have so that I could use 64-68mm pistons there, but as I understand it, this is a bad idea, due to the fact that the port timings will change, as well as the ports differ in size from 350?

I have no problem with the origin or location of people and usually politics is not an issue here.
RD enthusiasts help fellow enthusiasts - that's more fun.
If I want to get upset, I can still watch the news.
Bye

Generally its not usually possible to sleeve a 250 into a 350 size bore as the PVs get in the way, but you never know what you might be able to achieve if you have time and a willing shop who has sleeves and pistons lying around.

For port maps, have a look at ed erlenbachs website, he has a bunch on there.

Thanks for the detailed answer, you give a lot of useful information!
I read your articles, they were really helpful, sorry the site is no longer working.
Actually, at the moment I'm interested in the config that Wicked uses on his bikes. This is a +5 mm crankshaft (is it possible to use it on a standard crankcase?) and pistons from a yamaha blaster. As I understand it, this option makes it possible to get about 400-410cc. However, I don't fully understand why they don't use the usual +4mm and 68mm pistons (thickness of the sleeve becomes too thin? And also from changing the required height of the ports in the cylinder for the crankshaft + 4-5mm?). I was also surprised by the fact that they use pvk 39 carburetors on their motorcycles. It looks like too big carburetors for such an engine.

You'd have to talk to Roger at Wicked about how that works, I dont know many people who have done this conversions. 68mm is very thin on the sleeve, OEM max is 66 really, 66.5 at a pinch but you'll be pruning the PVs etc.
Roger did do some testing on here with a 421 as a cheap build and ran it with OEM mikuni 26s and found it left power on the table, I suspect he later found that 39 on his +5 setup was where the most power was for the size of the carb... you can only fit so big a carb in a bike frame. packaging is a huge issue with the RZ etc.

Yes, I noticed that it became more difficult to find parts from rgv. This was not uncommon before.
By the way, maybe you remember, is the length of the rgv pendulum the same as the standard one or is it longer?
I am also considering other options for upgrading the chassis. But I want to keep the recognizable appearance of this model, in terms of design.

I assume you are talkin about the swingarm? its longer.
Have a look on the RDLCCRAZY forum in the builds section as there are a lot of builds on there with other bike parts.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you and understand what kind of motorcycle it is. I don't need сbr). If I needed it, I would buy it. I do not have a goal to compete with someone and set records on this motorcycle, for this I have other motorcycles. For now, the goal is to make a weekend bike so I can ride around the city and enjoy the two-stroke engine, but the bike must have good handling.

Pwk28 have been the choice of many as they work much better than std, won't murder fuel economy and are comparatively small so fit ok. Oil injection can be accommodated too.
I run 35mm on my 496 as it isn't a full race motor, with an eye on above reasons, but less so.

Maybe someone will be interested, I made a video about this motorcycle. True, it is in Russian, but the subtitles should work. :smt002

Yep as Alex says, just go to the settings 'cog' and select which language you want the translation from and switch CC on.

Thank you! As for the frame color, I'm not sure whether to leave it like that or repaint it in the standard color.

By the way, did anyone deal with a Chinese copy of the fairings? How good are they?

I don't know of anyone who has used these parts for the 350. I do know several who have tried these parts for the 500 with varying results. The reports are typically that the paint finish is good but the fitment requires some finesse. It's a great price for potentially "finished" product. But certainly there will be some risk involved.
