#1 Post by jeremie » Thu Oct 27, 2022 7:32 pm

[facetious mode]center stand? ;)

ok jokes aside, Ive also found many stands were designed for fat tyred, wide swingarm modern bikes and feel a bit iffy on our bikes.

I use a pitbull stand, they are not cheap but they are super solid. I tried to post a picture but couldn't, sorry. Here is a link to the one I have.

Yes Pit Bull with the adjustable brackets. I also have an old universal white one with the L brackets. The name escapes me ATM.

when I located the " lift fingers" under the swingarm (with a similar style bike stand as the Pitbull) the bike slowly slid backwards to the point that the stand was no longer supporting the weight of the bike and it almost fell over
Too Stroked or kpke or anyone else. Any feedback?

Bikes do tend to slide sometimes with these type of lift fingers, I normally use the stand on my lift where the front wheel is secured so harder for the bike to move. This problem is not limited to the rz350, it happens to all my bikes without spools. My pitbull stand does hold better than the others I have. Make sure the underside of the swingarm clean, use some brake clean or something similar, should help hold a little better?

Yep. Had the same thing happen with my Pitbull stands. The angle of the swingarm and weight of the bike cause the rear stand to creep forward.

Happened while I was working on the bike. Barely saved it from going down. Will never do that again. I always put a jack under the frame, now.

you can always weld these to your swingarm. I had them welded to my FZR1000 so I could use a set of spools.

I use an ABBA stand which is pretty confidence inspiring to use. Works really well.

Abba lifts are awesome.

Can you post a pic of your RZ up on the lift?

Curious where you attach the lift to the bike, and if the pipes stay on.

I have T-Rex stands. They work but still scare me...especially under the fork tubes. I can also go up under the triple-tree. Also scary. :-) which I had a bike jack. Even the Hobo Freight version would do!

I noticed you have a center stand that steadies the bike, keeping the rear wheel stand from slipping forward. That's a nice feature if you have the center stand attached.
My bike pitched sideways while pulling the axle out and very nearly fell over while using a similar rear wheel stand- no center stand. I was lucky to have been standing when it happened and caught the bike before it hit anything solid.
Now I take off the seat and hang the bike with tie down straps from the rear frame section and or the handlebars to hooks mounted to the overhead beams of my garage. It's more work and not portable but gives piece of mind.
