Here's the biggest wolf spider I ever encountered in my shop. He (she?) must have been on it's way out, because it was moving pretty slowly by the time I spotted it and didn't even have the dignity to clean the cobwebs off of them.

That sucker was about twice the world record (according to a quick Google search). You should have captured it!

I'm telling you it was a Swamp Monster!
You are probably right about it being smaller than 3 feet. It was in the time before smart phones and I'm going from old memories. I'm looking at a pet carrier in my office that was about the same size and it's about 2 feet long. The NH Fish& Game site says 8 to 14 inches and up to 70 pounds. I don't know how they measure them but I can assure you the thing was way bigger than 14 inches. My uncle shot the thing and carried it around in the back of his old chevy step-side pickup....Because no one was going to believe him! It took up about a third of the bed length so it may have been less than 3 feet.
Here's a picture grabbed from a youtube video about the common snapping turtle found all over the Eastern US and Canada. By the looks, I would say this is comparable in size.

Haha, no matter it was still a big snapper!

Ive seen these in the US when ive visited. A mate of mine was chased by one as a kid and told us all about it, funny story over beers.

When I was in Tucson I visited the Sonora Desert Park. While there a huge long snake slithered across the footpath in front of us and into the bushes on the other side. Made you realise there could be things closer than the exhibits lol

Same trip I also visited the Titan missile silo and when checking in the guy on the door got a radio call to come and remove a rattle snake from the small dry garden out the front. He didnt bat an eyelid, seems it was an everyday thing.

When we later visited the airplane boneyard I realised that picking parts must be a life n death thing round there...

I'd look him up but I don't do FB or any other social media (data mining) site. This is as social as I get.

It would be nice if he'd pop in and let us know how he's getting on. It's been a while. Always enjoyed his wicked (and twisted) sense of humour.

Thanks Tim! I stand by that FB comment and Suckerberg, I mean Zuckerberg, is such a liar and may have an alternate agenda.
