Appearently a old stock new OEM tank - pricey & no interior shot of the tank.

Bits n' pieces more reasonable: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-bikes/osh ... nFlag=true

Whole bike approx 5x pricier than the tank. Missing mirror and handle bar seems short.

Parts are cheap and I'd pay 1300 for that tank, its a beauty!

The parts are no longer available.

The primary problem w a bike like that is the crank seals almost certainly need to be replaced and that is a giant PIA on a bike that you just paid $6000 for. Even stored indoors, it is also fairly likely the bores have rusted and that means even more work and more parts. If you are gonna be inside an engine that hasn't run in 15 years it would be prudent to have the crank rebuilt lest a rusty bearing let go.

So basically there is $1500 worth of parts (not including the work to tear down and reassemble the engine) required before that overpriced bike can even be started.

And then we haven't even considered what horrors might lie in wait inside the tank and carbs.

People need to get over the idea that an old 2-stroke is worth "big money" in cases where the bike hasn't run in years. The waiting rebuild makes such a bike much less attractive a purchase.

You are certainly correct on a bike not deserving a premium when it must be totally disassembled. Good luck convincing any of the sellers of this. They will certainly tell you its 'easy' to replace the crank seals and not necessary. It isn't a massive job but still a day in the shop if you know what you are doing!
