After 185 miles I can only get 3.5 gallons in my 1990 Canadian RZ. I'm riding with other bikes of different brands so I know my odometer isn't wonky.

I see as an unexpected pleasant surprise. It's great having a fun ride and not have to worry about looking for gas every 100 miles.

How is it jetted? When you are on with that the millage goes down. It wants its neck wrung out.

It has the Canadian Power jet carbs with 220 mains. You know, I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Most of my riding except on my long couple thousand mile rides are in the mountains on very twisty scenic roads. I'm also almost 74 years old. You can ride anyway you chose, but my goal is not to try to break the bike nor myself. I apologize if you think there's something wrong with me or my RZ because I get unusually good gas mileage. Oh no. No problems. The bikes came overly rich. They need to be jetted for happyness. You will love the results. Crisper feel, more throttle response and longer engine life. More efficient but guzzles more due to the way they want to be run after the jetting.
I'm at 3000 ft above sea level and will have to learn more about what these bikes like at this altitude.

I was getting about 40-42 mpg until I switched to Redline 2 stroke racing oil. That's when the mileage jumped up to where it is now.

My house is at 2400 ft, but I have traveled near sea level and over 6000 ft. It ran consistently well at all those elevations.
