Kenny Roberts in Oz

#1 Post by Ronz » Wed Nov 20, 2013 11:01 pm

Hello from South Australia,
I have a 1985 RZ350N that has 13324 miles on it. I bought a couple of years ago on ebay. I had it shipped to my house in LA from out of state. When I got it it was not running very good. It was actually running on 1 cyl. I made some adjustments to the carbs and replaced the fuel petcock, got it running pretty good. I swaped the fender and gas tank over from my other RZ. I got it to where I was happy to ride it. It needs fork seals, they leak. I was going to really fix it up, powder coat the frame, have tank and other parts repainted and have Wicked ATV build the motor with a stroker crank but I never got around to it. I don't know much about the history, previous owner told me that that he had it in storage for six years. It was crashed but it looked like only the usual cosmetic damage, rash on the 1/4 fairing, turn signal. I have all import paperwork. It was registered and insured in my name in California up to the day I brought it to the shipper. Relatively clean, un-restored. I have not decided what I'm going to do with the bike. Go through whatever it takes to register it here? Or sell it? I've actually only ridden it a few times since I've had it. I'll post a picture soon.
Thanks
Ron

Its not going to be worth much as a bike if its not a bit closer to 'registerable', and only you can do that since you owned and imported it. Right now its worth what you could get for parts I guess... not ideal.

Well it was a pain but now registered in SA via compliance plate exemption. Was not as lucky with my turbo gpz. they did like the braided steel lines with no Australian ADR numbers and running lights.

Well done for getting it rego'd, and like Aaron says, try the clubs for the GPZ.
