Temp gauge sensor RZ vs. LC

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Fri Jan 20, 2023 11:06 pm

Does anyone know if the RZ brass thermostat fits the RD? Learnt, from the LC Crazy form fans, they replace LC temp gauge sensor with an early 90's Range Rover ones. I discovered Landie parts are not cheap here in Canada - no surprise there. The length/thread pitch appears to be the same from images at Economy Cycle - minus the blade connection. Thoughts?

I think the standard thread is M10x1mm pitch, parallel with a sealing washer.
Land Rover and most aftermarket gauge senders will be 1/8NPT 27TPI, which works out to be 0.94mm pitch. Or in other words, close enough to just smoosh in there. It will be a taper thread, so just keep winding it in until the threads seal (maybe with a dash of sealant on them too).

I found that a generic 120 degree VDO compatible coolant sensor (1/8NPT) matched the Yamaha one exactly when tested in hot water from 20 to 100C.
