Its mostly a matter of breaking it free initially...
So just chisel carefully...
I saw a vid of it on 'tube.. by one of the major parts outlets... they used store bought expensive tools for every other operation... so chisel on race is considered kosher..

If you run a bead around the center of the race with a mig welder, the race contracts when the weld cools and if it doesnt just pop out, it will come out with the gentlest of taps with a chisel etc.
