RZ350, RGV, R1 Rebuild

#1 Post by tacky1 » Thu Jun 25, 2015 10:35 pm

Picked this up last year for $600.00 , Total basket case. 1984,
Picked up a complete RGV250 banana arm, with wheel, shock, caliper, hugger etc for $300.... What a deal.. :)
2001 R1 complete front end with clocks and wiring for $350.

I just finished rebuilding the engine, Ported cylinders, Wiseco .66mm pistons. 34mm Flat slide carbs. Welded and balanced crank, Machined and skimmed head, Squish band re-profiled, YPVS all rebuilt. Billet clutch. Banshee reed cages gutted out with TDR racing reeds. Every bearing, seal and gasket replaced, Oil pump and water pump rebuilt.....

Forks, Stripped, cleaned, New seals, wipers and 5W oil and running lighter springs, Race Tech .85KG/MM rated.
Front brakes, stripped and cleaned, All new seals and pads..

Re-keyed the locks so they are all on the one Key, hate having a bunch of keys, they wreck the triples and bars...

Nice start of a project. Shame the tank is dented, it would be good to do a complete new running bike and keep the original patina panels and tank. The speedblock red is my favourite.
Check that you have room for the clutch cable under those carbs.
Find a higher profile rear tire.
