4/8/12 I took a camera with me yesterday since I don't have a decent phone camera. I was going to ride for a bit, then go back home and trade bikes and go out again, but I started on the white bike and it was such a perfect day, I never went back. :smt001 Maybe Monday I can do another bike as it is a holiday at work.

I am hoping to add more pics and videos (looking at gopro or ???) to this thread. There are other members on here that live in this area. Maybe they can also add to this thread some time :smt002 WE ALL LIKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS :smt007

First pic is “around the cornerâ€￾ less than 1 mile from home. This used to be a cowboy town, maybe it still is, and still hosts a national rodeo once a year. There are lots of vineyards with some 20 – 30 (maybe more???) small and large wineries scattered about. I don’t think it is really a destination for anyone like Napa, although once a year they do a wine tasting “tourâ€￾ when you see limos and buses driving around going from winery to winery. OK, I just looked it up

“Livermore Valley Wine Country is a visitor's haven where you can taste, tour, and spend the day or weekend enjoying our 40 plus beautiful wineries.â€￾

Oh, we also develop large bombs and stuff in this little town [smilie=yikes.gif]

Enough of the history lesson.

Image

This one is up Dell Valle Road overlooking part of Livermore. Lake Dell Valle is a popular fishing destination for you fisherman types. You go drink wine at the 40 wineries then drive your boat around catching big stinky fishes.

Image

Now coming back down Dell Valle Road. Mines Road you see in the background is a very popular MC riding road. Stay on it long enough and you end up in San Jose. I’ve never done that and probably won’t unless I get something a little more modern (dependable).

Image

Went about 16 miles up Mines and then turned around for fear of running low on premix. This is coming back around mile 13.

Image

Well when I got to the bottom at Tesla Road, this is when I decided not to go trade bikes, I took a right instead of a left. I figured if I hit reserve going out I would have enough fuel to get back. 20+ miles out you end up here.

Image

Should of brang me some knobbies to put on the RZ so I could do a few hillclimbs.

Enjoy :smt006

Ok Kpke , I take my words back when I said some time ago
that most on here just have their 2T bikes in their garages :smt002

Nice photos :smt002 great day and nice views , wish I could be there with my bike to make some miles with you although with the time diffrence between us I should be sleeping the time you went riding :smt003

you would surely pick up some riding speed :smt003 that is to keep up with me.

Thanks for sharing.

Aaron, yes it was a nice ride :smt001 No, it was a very nice ride :smt003

Pete, you were my inspiration. Wish I had a decent phone camera tho. Carrying a camera kind of sucks.

Petros, I would not even try to keep up with you. You sir are a terror on your machines.

cbirk, on my ride today I was going to take vineyard pics but I came back home. Next time I’ll take the pretty red bike out and take some pretty vineyard pics.

4/9/12

The ride today went thru downtown. Takes about 2 or 3 minutes. If there is traffic. :smt002 Then out Livermore Avenue in to the country and up to Morgan Territory. I just looked it up and it is about a 1400 ft elevation gain to get up there. I took the pretty red bike up here once and started going down the back side. This was right after I put it all back together. Having never been up there I did not know what to expect. It was a one lane road going thru thick trees and it was the strobe effect of shade on and off. I could not go but about 15 mph on that road, very narrow and twisty. It was spotted with horse or cow poop all over and wet (cow or horse piss) in some areas. :smt009 I did my best to avoid the mess and thought I did a really good job of it. :smt001 Wrong, wrong, wrong. I spent about 3 hours tearing parts off the bike cleaning stinky pucky off of everything. Tires, wheels, under fenders, cooked on the exhaust, inside the lower fairing, etc. :smt010

I only go up and back down the Livermore side any more. :smt005

Here is our state flower, the CA Golden Poppy. It’s really cool when you come across a big field flooded with them. I rode by a couple and didn’t stop. :smt011

Image

A couple of pics on the descent. The rest of the ride goes thru the canyons thru the hills you see below. Glad the bike didn’t sink in to the dirt and fall over. :smt018

We get about one month or so of the really green hills. Then it will fade to brown. I was thinking they wouldn’t even turn green this year but the recent rains (more coming this week they say) have really helped. Recently the snow pack was only at 28% in the Sierras. Not good at all.

Nice county-side and the roads look like they’re a lot of fun to ride.
Your bikes are looking pretty sharp too. :smt023
I’m glad you got some time to ride while everything is still green.
Thanks for the pics.

I’m jealous too. Really wish I could go out for a ride.
I think about riding, and I want to go for a ride. But I don’t.

Today it’s a bit cool for the RZ, and there are only a few spots that are still green.
Oh well. That’s April in Alberta.

2 Saturdays (6/2/12) agos I went riding with 6 other bikes. There was supposed to be some other 2 strokes but ended up being only one. Guess who???

Turns out that one of the dudes is a docent at the Blackhawk Auto Museum. This turned out to be a destination after about 50 miles out in the country. Ritchie offered to take us on a private tour of the museum. Cool, I have never been there.

This is someone else's pics taken on the ride and at the museum. Recall that earlier in this thread I mentioned we get about one month or so of green hills. Note the color now.

Hope this link works.

Wish I could share more pics with you. Most of the cars there, at least on the upper level, are special one off or limited run vehicles. Many of them are King blah blah or Prince blah blah private hunting vehicle or some such thing.

Crap, my work pager is going off

Enjoy!
