Thanks Scott. Yeah, I raced 125s off and on for 9 seasons. Last night at the banquet I won next season's club membership. The passion went from motocross right in to my '81 LC. Nine seasons on the LC with some (3) TZ250 racing and 3 RZ500s both on the street and racing.

Thanks guys.

Peter, no, I'm not Steve McQueen.

David, yes, an absolute blast.

Jon, the legs were burning on the stairs Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs...lots of Advil. Now, as of today, I'm doing the PTSD awareness training. 22 push ups for 22 days. 22422. Only did 5 in a row on the 1st attempt. You have to do 22/day, any number at a time until you reach 22.

Dana, Flickr has been downloaded. Working on that still.

Evans, keeping the rubber side down. My 2nd kick at the can.

That's a good story. I had the liquid 1981 YZ125. That was my favorite bike. Thin and really light. In 1993 I picked up a used 1989 Suzuki RM125 and went out to ride with a bunch of friends. What I remember from that day was how little horsepower those 125 MXers have. You have to keep those things pinned and constantly shift if you want to keep from bogging. My clutch hand was numb after 15 minutes of play riding! At 50+ I think old 125's are nice to look at but I'd rather drive a open-class bike at this point. You can start in 3rd and shift about 3 times a lap. You did really well to run out front and stay upright!

I remember those ads. Thanks for sharing. I never considered the YZ back in the day.

Great story!
Its fun to hear you rediscover passion from the old Days, i have done the same thing.

A cople years ago in autumn i bought a restortion project, a Honda cr480 -83, and i said "i will not start this project until the RZ350 is done!" but that changed when i heard there was a meeting/training day for VMX in spring not far from home, so i put the RZ aside and started the restortion.

I completed the restortion and did the meeting/training day, it was a blast to ride! my first open class 2-stroke..
at the time i was working on the bike i was thinking "it would be nice to have a Twinshock bike also" so i bought a Honda CR250 -79 and a CR250 -80 also.
Now i have those three Hondas and a CR250-83, KX250 -82, RM80H -83, CZ125 -8?, half YZ125 -80, CR80 -81 and some more.. and the RZ is still waiting for my attention.
So be careful, they tend to breed at night and soon you have the garage full of old mx bikes and wonder, how could this happen??
85 RZ350, Project in slow progress, 7mill stroker engine in even slower progress..
Other bikes
Harley Chopper -71 "Swedish style"
Honda CR480 -83
Kawasaki KX250 -82
and some more..

Have you seen the show "Hoarders" ???
Just sayin'......ELEVEN (11) RZ350's seriously?

Do you put them on display at events? That would be so cool to see 11 RZ350's all lined up. I don't recall ever seeing that many in one place at the same time.

brrrappp, Hoarders, ah yeah, familiar with that one. Most are basket cases. I'm slowly resurrecting them. I'm a lisenced motorcycle mechanic. Racer, who's just started racing again.
Acquired them over a 4 year period, and the plan is to try and rebuild one every year for the next 10 years.
I may be selling one to a forum member to build a drag bike.
You have not been to a large city in Canada on a bike night in the 80s. There were always a bunch of us ripping around. Anywhere from 5-15 of us.

Hey Semi, thanks for the kind words. I get that stuff from my mother and wife too. I'll do some research and see if anyone is interested in hiring on a motorcyclehead to write for them. Would you like to read me in a Canadian or American rag?
