Anyone near Kelowna BC ?

#1 Post by Questo vecchio rz » Sat Mar 03, 2018 12:28 pm

Just asking if anyone here lives anywhere near Kelowna BC, what can you tell me about it. I met this pretty awesome woman while she was on vacation down here in Palm Springs. Super cool, and very easy on the eyes. She's wants me to come visit for a couple weeks. I've never been north of Seattle, so just seeing as to what it's like. Being that I'm used to 120° F summers, I could possibly freeze & die there in a matter of minutes :smt005

Hi David, Calgary is about 6 hours east of Kelowna. Kelowna is nestled between the mountains. When were you thinking of going? It's winters are much milder than ours. Summer's are beautiful ,but the evenings cool very quickly, like desert environments.

Heh David. Was there last Fall on a wine tour road trip from Vancouver, Whistler, Lyton, to Kelowna. Looking fwd to a bike trip through the same area - nice twisting roads great mtn vistas around each turn thru Lyton. Recommend Mission Hill Winery if your into that sorta thing. The place is part desert hot n dry come Summer. A lotta people play on the lake there so it can get crowded. I sence you won't be disappointed with any of the views. The only issue is wild fires but I imagine your use to that.

Oh, we didn't mention Canadian women, but perhaps you know about that. We feel pretty lucky up here.

Lol...She keeps guaranteeing me I'm going to enjoy my stay...lol

Not exactly sure when I'm going, I have to apply for a passport and wait for it to be approved 1st, then arrange travel plans.
I'm trying to go cheap as possible. I'm not sure how well I'll deal with the temps...it dropped down to 23° F here ,then with the wind chill...I thought I was gonna thaw out this spring. :smt005 I'm aware it gets a while lot colder there, as a matter if fact I 1st saw her here in Palm Springs at 7:00 a.m. in the swimming pool....I thought to myself...that's insane!...it's in the 50s and this gals swimming?? No one goes in water here unless it's in the 80s F. She said it was perfect...lol.Truly funny how people adapt over generation's.
When it happens, It should be a fun trip.

If you ended up moving north, you'd climatize in a matter of months. Comfort? You'd be used to the crazy weather in about 3 years. My late wife was Mexican, from DF. She loved Calgary and the weather, cold, snow. Cold air is loaded with oxygen, and it's invigorating to breathe.

Kelowna can be pretty hot in the summer. Lots of good roads in that area.
