New Holland 1022 Procart Wheel Rake

My 25 year old Neimeyer RS 620 self destructed in the field and since Neimeyer no longer has a dealer network in the USA so it was not feasable to repair. Rake design has come a long way... I get to try her out on Tuesday when the hay my partner is cutting now will be dry...$7300 but well worth it.

We're still using a nameless ancient rake pulled with a '52 Ford N8.

What's wrong John you guys don't put up hay for the critters in Austalia?

I live on the side of a hill amongst an area designated as 'historical forest' in a city suburb, the only rake i know is for moving leaves around before they go in the green bin... but I do appreciate that there are machines that do this on a larger scale, and this may well be one of them. :smt003

No, my question was really that its a bit out of left field (see what i did there? hmm) to see this on this forum, especially when it says 'procart' in the title, I assumed it was some question about setting up the suspension for Pro Cart racing in New Holland... So imagine my surprise when it turns out to be a somewhat slower vehicle. :smt009

...but also i think this is a sales ad, but Im not really sure, I dont really know if the 'seller' (if he is one) is sure either as he says in the very short ad these things: it 'self destructed' (cant be good), that 'since Neimeyer no longer has a dealer network in the USA so it was not feasable to repair' (so, there are basically no parts or service available and it cant be fixed), and 'Rake design has come a long way... ' (its outdated), yet also '$7300 but well worth it.'... Ok, Im no expert in this kind of machinery (obviously), but Im thinking its probably not the most upbeat of sales ads. :smt017

Nah that's his new New Holland (the manufacturer) hay rake. It's for harvesting hay/straw and such for baling. It makes these nice neat rows for the machine to come along and turn it into bales for sale or storage and later feeding to cows/horses and such.

You can see both stages here.

:smt003

Hee hee thats cool. now I get it. :smt001

I wasnt sure what you were showing us, but I will agree thats a great bit of kit, you'd be able to knock over my small garden (1/4 acre) in about 2 mins if its was laid to grass and flat. :smt003

I am a city slicker these days for sure, tho in my youth I used to work on a farm and we used an old finger mower on a Massey 35 and then someone else came and did the raking, it was slow work and gave you lots of time to contemplate life. :smt020

Question is now, what will you do with the old dead one? the farm I worked on had a corner of one field given over to the old machinery that had died, including cars, motorcycles and a stack of old tyres. I always loved mooching round there, so many bits of kit with dates on them from a very bygone era.
