Sadly having many projects and also selling stuff can get like that Ive found, not just in this hobby but every one we are involved in. I know that when its all new and you're buying parts and totally absorbed in 'the project' its all very good indeed and super fun. The forums teach you things and you learn stuff daily. If we all continued like that it would be superb. But... That process slows down over time and with multiple projects on the go cash dwindles and there is less learning to be garnered... It's compounded as selling the stuff you don't need becomes a drain on your time; finding parts, cleaning them up and taking photos, posting ads, taking money and shipping take longer out of your day than you would think. It can feel like work, I get that, Ive been there (I dont even look at my MT250 much these days... sad i know) and we have to remember that while many of us are great customers, not everyone is cool when it comes to money.

So I get it and what I do is step back when it happens to me. After a little while the flame is rekindled, usually by a new member or new project build thread or a supplier joining the forum and showing off their workmanship. I'm hopeful that Silver stays in touch and keeps us up to speed on his projects, RZ or otherwise.

Either way.... Enjoy your hiatus mate, you will be missed.

I'm guessing the battle of words he had with a newbie about selling parts had something to do with it. That was a harsh thread to read let alone be in the middle of. Just my opinion. Hope he comes back someday.

You light your own fires, most of the time. It's suppose to be a hobby.

Surrounded by sheds full of 30 year old bike parts, listening to Talking Heads, " ...and you may say to yourself, my God, what have I done..."
Certainly managed to cram far more if this 'hobby' into his days than me, everyone has a limit. I know you'll read this, so you'd better still make some rides, even though we didn't get one in out this way yet this year. Enjoy!

Hope to hear from you again sometime. I could have bought a flawless survivor but I'm glad I didn't. I'm really glad Silver Strom helped me as much he did on restoring my beater. Keep your knees in the breeze. Be well.

I either missed it, or didn't pay it any mind.

Sad that assholes run off the helpful members that contribute the most.

John has always treated me well with his knowledge and collection of spare parts.
I'll miss all that as well as his humor and him as a group riding partner...
Thank You John for your help...

I'm really sorry to hear this news.
He helped out many of us with parts, information, and useful advise,
Hopefully, he will have a change of heart. If not, he will be missed.

Either way John, I thank you for your time and effort, and wish you all the best.

He`s not leaving the bike world altogether.
He didn't indicate any particular issues with anyone.
The 500 side is a separate member list and account than this side.
All the best John I 100% get it :smt002 it can grind you down after awhile which ain't no good for anyone.

It's all about the passion. When you lose the passion, what you once loved and were passionate about, just becomes work - no matter how hard you try and tell yourself it's not.

I am glad I had the chance to meet you (in person). I realized right away that you are 'one of the few'.

Makes me wish I had my bike finished sooner, so I could have been in a group ride with you buddy.

Anything I can ever help with - drop me a line.

Best of luck in your new passions.
Jeff

I feel bad. I was the one who suggested the "tech" branch and nominated him for the moderator.

I'd like to thank him for his great contributions and wish him the best of luck.

Never got to meet him but I would hope it might happen someday
