Those clutch plates look like Barnett from here.

Very nice build!

You wouldn't happen to have a spare head laying around that you would like to part with?

Thanks TRex.

Whymee, it appears you found a head. :smt038

I tend to not sell most my spare inventory because every time I sell a a part I end up needing it for a project some time later.

When I am done with this hobby there will be a rather large garage sale of rz350 (and 500) parts :smt003

I thought Slinger was not doing the head mod anymore???

If possible (Stan) can you PM me the cost for this mod including shipping 2 ways?

I assume you need to figure out your squish prior to sending the head up his way cuz he is going to deck it, correct?

Some final assembly work being done on this engine

Polished power valves

Image

Installed head with copper gasket. Used copper gasket spray 2 coats both sides.

Image

Installed VForce 2 reeds with ¼” spacer blocks. Put spacers on intake, then reeds, then intake rubbers. Intake rubbers had to remove the “ears” on the inside. Hacksawed them off then machined flat with belt and disc sander. Used 1194 on all surfaces. Probably a mistake. If I need to take it apart it will take lots of cleanup to remove sealant.

Installed 50c thermostat with Sheridan Racing spacer kit.

Image

As I feared, intakes are leaking under pressure at all gasket joints :smt013

I have all kinds of "new" old crap (NOC) laying around here :smt045

And yes, I am still :smt022 over the leaks.

Maybe I will let it rest for another year or two and then get back to it :smt015

FZR suspension, shiny frame, polished aluminum swingarm, powder coated wheels, flat black paint on the tank.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but whatever, it's your bike. :smt003

Looks terrific. Nice work. :smt023

Engine is installed. Mounting up the radiator I found the alu radiator interference problem. Unfortunately the frame is painted so I don’t quite know what I will do to get this thing fitted. I may carefully cut the mount off and make an alu bracket that is stood off more. Or for now maybe I’ll put a stocker on. I’ve notified John to see if he has any “suggestions”.

How much interference is there? Could you make an off set rubber bush or fill the hole in the original one and re-drill it off centre? Might gain ya a few mm's

Dave

Wiring harness has been cleaned and installed.

Economy Cycle is shipping me another radiator that I hope fits better than the one I currently have. Per measurements we both have taken it appears that the second one may fit without mods. I hope so. As most of you know John (Economy Cycle) is a great guy/vendor to work with and was accommodating with the price on the second radiator. He said I could return the first radiator but I will use it on the next “project” that already has frame mods and will be getting more.

Recent arrivals

Powder coated alu headlight brackets and new headlight. This headlight and brackets are the same parts I used on my rat bike that I’ve been very satisfied with. Purchased from the same vendor.

Blinkers

These are aluminum and at first I thought they had a brilliant polish to them. But when I waxed them (yep, surely you wax your blinkers don’t you?) the cloth did not turn black. They are actually plated aluminum. Time will tell how the plating holds up. I was very happy to not have to take them to the buffer though. I struggled over getting a set of black blinkers or these. Since there are some shiny blingy parts on this bike I chose these alu parts. What I really like about them is they use machine screws into tapped holes to mount the bulb socket inside and for the smoked lenses. No stripped out plastic threads on these. I did have to deflash the lenses a little bit. But overall these are quality import parts.

Bummer about the rad. I had the same problem. My solution was to cut the top post and move it so that it changed the mounting position. Fit well after that.

Your bike is looking great !
