RZ350 Super Motard

Re: RZ350 Super Motard
Told JH the exhaust port duration number I measured.
He said the duration is full race, not ideal for a street bike.
The engine builder asked me if I wanted aftermarket cylinders for more power. I said let's make whatever power we can from the OEM cylinders.
Sounds like he did what I asked.

Wish I had more time.
Would like to make a custom upper triple similar to this.

Re: RZ350 Super Motard
On the YPVS models that can easily be fixed.
The trick is to let the PV not fully open. That'll create any port duration correction you need.

a ton of hours machining all the parts for that assembly.

Re: RZ350 Super Motard
First pipe analysis is done. Looks like peak HP will be @ 9,500 rpms.
Not enough info at this time to accurately estimate HP.
I started with Toomey dimensions, then changed them to fit the bike. Jeff modified my pipe dimensions to work better with the engine.
Should be rolling cones, soon.

Re: RZ350 Super Motard
You can't really go wrong w theToomey
dimensions. Just dynoed a set of used T5s for my Banshee...and they delivered 8 more h p. Than the FMFs I have had on her, albeiet at higher RpM...but that what wins..high RPMs?,
Could buy some Shearer in frames...but at $ $700.00 vs $275.00 for used Toomey T-5s..I'd only gain another 3.5 h.p, and lose some bottom end too...So I'm sticking with the Toomeys as a good compromise. And that's the thing about Toomeys...they deliver the best all around power...and their silencers deliver a sound that...is beyond comparison... just music to the ears

Working on stainless exhaust manifold collars that won't leak.
Manifold collars need to work with the billet exhaust flanges.

Checking clearance on my pipe design @ 40 degree lean angle.
Suspension is compressed for rider weight +.
Actual wheels/tires are about 1 inch taller.

Re: RZ350 Super Motard
Going all the way! Don't forget that your suspension will be compressed significantly when you are leaned that far, maybe reducing that clearance in half. I would suggest that you also check that your rear shock hits the bump stop before any hard parts make contact. I recently had a violent surprise on my hybrid for overlooking that, hit a massive bump at high speed and the swingarm hard stopped on the frame.

Well, there's 12 inches of travel in the front, and 10 in the back.RuZty wrote:Going all the way! Only hard parts that could possibly hit are the pipes, with too much rear compression (pipes hitting the ground). Stingers won't hit the swingarm, even at full compression.
The suspension is compressed in the photos.
I won't be using much of the suspension travel on the street. Suspension will be stiffer, too. I would lower the bike, if I wasn't using down-pipes.
Re: RZ350 Super Motard
Looking closer I see you tied it down. As far as contact, I was referring to the swingarm hitting the frame before the shock hit the bump stop. My hybrid has almost 6 inches travel in the rear and when I hit the mother of all bumps the swingarm tagged the frame in 2 places quite hard. I wouldn't have thought it could go that far, but wish I had checked ahead of time and made sure it coudn't. I will be making a spacer for the bump stop so it can't happen again.
Did you consider crossover in the front to offset the belly's so you can move them inboard?
There are a lot of wheels in the background, how many bikes do you have? I know of your 'lamb' 350, the 'bling' 350, the motard, the 500 and the NSR.

Swingarm and frame are for the same bike, so no clearance issues there.RuZty wrote:Looking closer I see you tied it down. The plan all along was to make crossover pipes. Crossed over the mockup up-pipes and downpipes. On this bike, it moves the bellies toward the front of the bike. Creates slightly more ground clearance.
Tried several different bends. Looked like crap compared to the final symmetrical header design. Decided against the novelty and slight performance advantage, for better looking pipes.
I have the bone stock RZ500 and the RZV500 roller.
Also have a low-mileage, unmodified '87 Canadian RZ350.
And the custom WR250X.
Always appreciate your input.
