Maybe, but I think everyone is more jealous of your skill with the 3D scanner and CAD work!

Maybe we could do a trade, or I could pay cash. It would be super cool if you could scan up a steel bracket, and I could have it made out of titanium.

I think that could be arranged for a price! My friend scanned my case as a favor. I'm sure he has some kind of hourly rate...
What kind of bracket? The scanner is not needed unless it's a very weird organic shape. Most often you can approximate it and build it from scratch in CAD.

Thanks, kobra.

I'll send you some pics of the weird organic bracket for an opinion. :smt023

Got more info on the upsized reedcage mod.

There are 4 different VForce3 reedcages for the CR125. The one used for the upsized RZ/Banshee mod is the V301A.
V301A no longer sold by Moto Tassinari, superseded by V301B.
V301A was listed for '87 - '00 CR125. V301B was listed for '01 CR125. Not sure of the difference.

The VForce4 reedcage for the RZ/Banshee is V4144. Says on the MT website that metal needs to be removed from the cylinder walls, in order for the reedcage to fit.

There is only one VForce4 reedcage for the CR125, the V4R01D. Listed for '87 - '00 & '02. Notice they skip '01. (So, I have doubts about the V301B fitting the RZ/Banshee.)

I ordered a G401 gasket set for the V4R01D reedcage, so I can compare the size to the G4144 gaskets I have for the V4144 reedcage.

Can still find V301A reedcages around, but I read an independent test showing VF4s are better than VF3s.

VFuck! :smt003

Well, it would have been a good idea for me to actually look at the engine before spending so much time on this mod. :smt003

The CR125 upsized reedcage mod was suggested to me by Ed Erlenbach. He sent me the pic of the V3 reed and the RZ cylinder. The thing is, he's an RD and TZ guy - so maybe this is actually an air-cooled mod. Or, maybe there's something I'm missing. I think the bolt pattern is the same on the V3s and V4s.

Got the CR125 V4 gaskets. Much wider than the Banshee gaskets. With the hose between the cylinders, I don't see any good way to go to larger reedcages.

I could do it by extending the (cut-out, thin-walled) cylinders and welding the new flanges past the hose, or trying to offset the new flanges, but I don't think either answer is good. The extensions would be welded right next to the hose, unless the cylinders are cut down.

Could turn the reedcages sideways, but never heard if that. If I could, they would only be 1mm wider on each side, plus the welding bead.

I think its back to the Banshee V4s.

or you could make a spacer for the water-connector to bring the hose further back ;-)
if it runs, you can race it !

I don't think there's room for the hose on the other side of the (larger) reedcage flanges.

Machined up the steel plates. Chopping & welding next.

Trying to grab as many parts as I can for the engine rebuild.

Still not sure if the +7mm stroker plan will happen. Asking EE and TDR_50 for help with that. Can't start buying big parts until I get all the info.

In the mean time, I asked MBD about the straight cut water pump gear and drive gear set. Not available at this time. Don't really need it, but thought it would be a cool mod. :smt003 If anyone can direct me to another source, it would be great.

Also want the shift star and detent arm (bearing) & spring mod. If you think one brand/style is best, please post your preference.

Also need to look at uprated bearings, o-rings & seals. Not sure what's available. EE and Jeff H like and use ceramic bearings. Might be my last engine build, so maybe I'll use those where I can. No idea where to get them, yet. Pretty sure I've seen improved YPVS seals/o-rings. Just have to find them.

Then there's the dry clutch parts. No idea if this will work, or leak oil, or maybe destroy the new engine. [smilie=dunno.gif]

Been going through the dry clutch parts. No idea exactly how it goes together, so been at it like a jigsaw puzzle. Have most of it figured out, using the RZ and Ducati schematics. The TINY o-ring seal looks very sketchy. Wondering if an uprated rubber or teflon seal could be found/used? I'll post some good pics of the dry clutch assembly.

Isnt Roger just down the road from you? He'll have a lot of the smaller stuff in stock I'd think.

Received info on this suggestion.
Got helpful photos from a super OG. :smt006

Photo shows how to run the hose between the carb boots, in FRONT of the upsized reed flanges. Good idea to make it work.

Unfortunately, it's not the clean, simple look I want for this engine. Also, I made a very cool rubber-mounted carburetor support which occupies the same space.

May not be using larger reedcages on this engine. [smilie=dunno.gif]

The general design of the blue coolant outlet would lend itself nicely to pointing the outlet straight back instead of down. You would still have the hose to deal with , but it would be about as clean as you could get. Maybe you could make a solid tube that transitions to oval and back, but maintains cross section area to fit between the carbs.

Definitely agree on having a straight outlet vs that harsh OEM 90 degrees. The hose is indeed the problem with a straight outlet. Besides the carb support, I'd also like a boost bottle in that space.

Oval tubing is an idea I've considered. Using color-annealed titanium tubing. :smt003
But, there's very little space between the larger flanges. The entire tubing would need to be behind them.
I'll try to make a simple mockup and take a pic.
