Hi guys, this 89 RZ350 was thrown in with a trade I did for a 1985 RZ350 and a ton of parts. He said, do you want this thing too?? Why of course. Engine is good and will need to put the pipes back on and look at the wiring harness to try to start.
I’m not finding too much on the years these were made (89-90?). He wrecked this years ago, said it ran like a rocket. Frame is shot and although there are missing parts I think I could get it running.

Is the cdi the same for the 85? Could I put this motor on one of my 85’s? Image

Read this site, lots there, will answer a lot of your questions.

Who gets a 89 RZ ''thrown in'' with a deal? Geez great score, lots of good parts on that, especially if the engine is a decent runner.

CDI is not the same. Wiring harness is different. You can put this motor in your 85. Remove the stator and replace with an 85 and away you go.

89 stator will work with a 52Y 1985 CDI but you have to adapt it , the connectors are not the same .

Are the wheels straight? They are lighter than US `85.

That is one of the worst RZ350 wrecks that I have ever seen...and I have seen a $h!t tonne of them.

Someones groin was in a lot of pain.

The demise of my original RZ was about the same. Lucky to walk away.

Yeah , let’s just say there was a big lawsuit over that wreck.
Since this bike has no real return with that frame. I will only be able to part it out eventually (not much left) but would like to get the bike running at least before I advertise the motor. For now it looks good in storage as I have a 85 RZ I’m going through to get out there

96-90 were all the same bikes. Lots of parts interchange. no need to switch the stator, just cross a couple wires.

Funny to see a tank so flattened in that area.

You could always source a frame out of Canada if you wanted to restore. They are cheap. Sure you could find some replacement tubes for those forks.

Hello Evan
Isn’t that quite a process though getting that frame in the states, then the title process after that?

I have only seen these bikes for sale in Canada and never really made the jump due to not knowing what’s all involved in getting one across the border and transferring the title since it is a Canadian model.

You are in the states. Did not realize.

There is information here. Have not done before. http://www.2strokeworld.com/forum/index ... ic=10002.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

May take a bit but frame should only cost you a couple hundred USD. be nice if Rory had on to spare. Doubt he does.

I bought a Canadian RD and had zero trouble getting it titled in Washington. All I had to do was to take it, along with the Canadian version of our title, to the customs office in Tacoma. A customs inspector made sure the numbers matched, signed a piece of paper, and that was that. It was cheap too, I don't recall what I paid, but it was quite reasonable. The "secret" was that my bike was more than 20 years old. All those rules about two-stroke importation are relaxed for older bikes. Mine is an 89, and I did it five years ago, so virtually any Canadian bike or frame should sail through, assuming you have the Canadian title.
