R-6 Swingarm install

#1 Post by Questo vecchio rz » Thu Dec 14, 2017 3:13 pm

You Tube is great...lol
Found this 3 part video.
Guy exudes confidence in what he's doing, It's kinda a sledgehammer approach, but it's not unheard of. I wish he did some close-ups,as to see his detail. 1.5 " stretch is huge, and some things cannot be overcome such as a offset sprocket.
But gotta give him some credit, he went straight at this project.
In part 3 , he's a stating "again with absolute confidence" lol that it will be a 10mil build with 180-200 h.p. and 180 mph. :smt044 :smt043 Amazing some people have so much skill, but yet clueless on other subjects.
NOTE* There never was a part 4... :smt005

I put an 05 R6 swingarm in my rz350 frame. I had to jig the frame, cut it in 5 places and spread it out 2 inches. I can't recall how large of an offset sprocket I used, but I ended up making a 3/4 inch spacer between the engine cases, and the stator cover. It was a large undertaking, but no problems so far :smt023

Did you do this to your TZ converted suspension bike, or was it this another project ?
Also, do you still have your links to the Japanese race bikes? If so could you send me the links.

David, try RMD.

Jeff, in Ontario, Canada, also did a frame cut install for an R1 swinger. I've had a spin on his bike. It's a work in progress. Documented here, RZ Resurection.

Not sure if this is directed towards me or not, but none of this is familiar to me.

EEek... that poor dash in Ep2 while hes cutting and welding the frame over the top of it. has a good ignition surround too, sigh...

He is very confident, but some things are decidedly iffy with his work (or maybe we're just perfectionists?) ie the center drilling of the swinger mount. Perhaps a few degrees out isnt a big deal, perhaps he does this better than the video shows, I dunno...

Anyway, its interesting as you say QV, ta for posting.
