New LC project

#1 Post by nokturnal » Thu Jul 26, 2018 1:35 pm

Was sitting in a garage for 5 years. It was a track bike, missing all the "street legal" wiring and accessories. So premixin' this bad boy.

Need to find left bar switch, taillight, license plate bracket, and possibly a complete headlight if I can find one for a decent price.

Let's see how this goes...

Priority is getting on the road. Fancying it up later.

I need some louder pipes maybe...

Thanks Mark. Have a couple offers now on the bucket. I have a complete assembly available to me, if I need it. Its a repro job and new (read $). Would rather find an old original kicking around if I can, but only if I don't have to mess around finding ALLL the pieces, if you get me. Don't need to be hunting for bezels etc...

I have a rectangular tailight that I think is from an RZ500 that might be close/same. I can probably sort out a usable left switch from something else that will get you by as well.

RD 400 LH switch will match, but has different connectors. (Save the plug to use on a stator...)

Can you tell me the vin, or tell me if it is 0001111. If so, that was my old bike. I had clubmans and clip ons, it was yellow. I sold it the day I moved to the west.

Lol, thanks for that. I had three of them. Can't remember the other two numbers. They all went to the same guy.
It looks pretty good with the RZ wheels. Why do people run the wrong sized tire's?!

The RZ conversion was done well it seems. Nothing bolted on. Everything is welded (nicely) to the frame/swinger.

The 100' test drive I took the other day, the bike seemed peppy enough, quite actually. Maybe some black magic had been done? I pulled the carbs and they were dirty. Not horrible though. Main jets were 160, down from 220... theres the pep. Super lean. Not sure this thing has been ridden in this config before, surely it would have seized. Pilots were 27.5, up from 22.5, though, so-closed throttle is taken care of.

Still dying for a left hand switch. The parts lot I am going to look at likely does have one. :smt040 Help a brother out

Oh the tank slappers. It wasn't until I went to stock size that most of my bikes tendency to slap me off went away.

nok, that bike may well have been mine. The jetting is the same as I was running with the exception of the pilot. Are those power jet carbs? That's what I ran for about 6 years. Super crisp, quite fast.

They are 4L0 carbs. May well have been your bike though... maybe the blue frame I just sold was the frame you were talking about.

Got the decals, thanks Russ!

Yes, had a blue framed bike that I picked up and had not touched. Sounds like my bunch of bikes.
