Ed Toomey is making progress. Have ordered, 2003-06 CBR600 radiator.

Cylinder porting will be done soon and custom pipe building will start once the cylinders are done and mocked up.

Trued to buy a RS250 a couple weeks ago, guy had 3RS250s for sale ,2- challenge cup bikes,a Call registered RS 250 for $4800.00 k...then boxes and boxes of parts..of which there was a...
frame, swingarm, shock, rims, axles and brakes all avail separately..but FUCK the dude wanted $1500 bucks ..just for the frame!!...that's stupid, considering he wanted to sell all the additional parts at top dollar too.. I could have bought the street registered RS for almost the same price as all the parts.
My friend and I offered the guy 7 k for a running RG500 parts bike,(more than fair) with bodywork and misc, then I offered $3800.00 for the RS kinda as a package deal.. as it had a salvaged title. I don't care much about title..but it allows a Xtra option.
The guy could have sold to us 2 bikes and we would have picked it up the next day...but he decided to box up the Gamma and all the parts for it..ship it all to Canada...for the same price???..so he kinda lost out on a deal..that's on him. So long story short as a result..I decided not to buy the RS as he likley moved back toward $4800.00 bucks, great bikes...but I have SOooo many damned projects going...it really don't make realistic sense for me.
But if a (roller pops up at a good price...ID BE INTERESTED! for sure. Although I still think I'd rather have 88 YZR bodywork on the RS frame.
It makes perfect sense as I can buy a RS/RZ conversion kit, and also Bolt on pipes ready made already...saves time and fabrication costs.
I'll likley..continue on the RZ as I've planned....The GSXR, likley handles better and is WAY faster anyways, even with 100 h.p. the GSXR will walk away effortlessly...I need to love the😗RZ (a lil better) for what she is ....

Yeah, that's it I was on board to buy either the RGV250 or the RS250 site unseen...but without my friend buying what he wanted, the package made less sense for my friend.
Not too often you find a RGV or a RS for 5k.or less!!!.
People where posting the RGV was a bunch if various years pieced together? Also was stated it was an (original )Lucky Strike RGV as well, ?? But someone said that wasn't the case, or I would have bought it for sure.
I don't know them well enough to determine quickly what I'm looking at.
I would have bought it..or the registered RS as the seller stated it had a documented engine rebuild...
The quick/ ,l ittle research I did, stated that just RGV / RS cranks by themselves retail for over 2 k....no wonder the RZ conversion is appealing.
I really would have liked the RGV Lucky strike...but 5k is more than I wanted to spend at this time
With the RS...at $3900.00 to 4k , it made more sense as I can sell my RZ350 roller and parts for 4k, to fund the conversion to the RS chassis.....If a 3ma or RS roller pops up at a fair price..it will happen one day...if not..I'll enjoy plugging along with the RZ/YZR thing.
Your RS looks pretty slick !!

Ed's own words -

Balancing rods. You may notice that one rod is about 1/10th of a gram heavier than the other. That’s because one of the big end bearings is 1/10th gram heavier than the other. So I compensated in the rod big end

Big ends matching within about 1/100th of a gram.

Welded

Video 1. Crank fresh out of the assembly jig. Not bad.

Video 2. Crank trued welded and settled.

Video 3. Full assembled crank. Verifying condition. Runout is no more than .00025”. Doesn’t get much better. Anything under .0005” is great.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5c358d2a221 ... 682760.mp4http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5c358d362e6 ... 974041.mp4http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5c358d343dd ... 798934.mp4

Incredible work. Does it really matter if the two pistons/rods are exactly the same weight?
