Im afraid you shouldnt have mentioned spray painter by trade cause you're going to get hammered with jobs now lol.
Look forward to seeing this project progress, plenty of good ppl here to answer questions & a good move going to Roger for the base kit etc.

Thanks guys. With the painting fellas, at the moment I don't really have anywhere to do it at the moment, at my old job I used to be able to take in side jobs in, but those days are gone. Jason that lovely big shed I had is no longer as I have moved, I could of set something up there. But iam looking at setting up something at home at the moment, or at the in laws large property, for sand blasting also. Have to set something up decent to do good work, and iam in the process of doing so. I would like to start doing some bikes only on the side, as I have been asked to many times. Jason you saw the 500, the guy who bought it has three or four jobs for me, one being a tz350. He would rather wait for me to do some jobs for him, as a bike enthusiast will care more than other painters he believes. Doing bikes, even better classic bikes I would injoy doing after hours as it would be like making money from a hobby, would just take a lot of my time, but that's alright. Cars now make me sick, last one I did on the side was two years ago, my brother in laws HQ gts Monaro, turned out spot on, but that was the end for me. Plus you need a big facility to do cars, witch includes a full sized booth. With bikes I can design something small and clean to accommodate.
So if you guys are not in a hurry, I should be right to do something towards the end of the year, or probably sooner. Its ok if you need it done sooner but I just can't.
Just PM me what you need done, so I know whats out there to be done. I have to at least do one of the other guys jobs first.

While I had some free time thought I would pull apart this rz250 motor I got, also got the full wiring loom out of the bike. It had the top end off for many years and the big end bearing was well and truly seized, but don't need the crank anyway. The oil I pulled out of it was a lovely 20 year old mixed with water, the sickest I have ever seen. Not bad motor for what I need, only problem was, a bit of rust on two of the gears, but I have spares. Also I used an adjustable clutch holder and it slipped, and I broke the clutch hub. The stator/ flywheel came off well with enough heat, and doesn't have to much rust. Not a bad I suppose for a motor that looked like never being split, and been sitting for very long time, as I pulled it out of the doner bike, and it looked like it hadn't moved for quite a while. But it was in the back of factory unit, so not outside, or in a garden shed for all of its retirement, only probably some of it.
Also my engine kit from Roger has arrived, and the pipes from fast from past. The head from Roger is a piece of art. I will very much enjoy putting this motor together, when I have the parts. A few racing rounds coming up, so they will just sit in the boxes for a while. The thing to do first when I get to this build, will be building this motor slowly, and just figure out what to do with the front wheel, as the aprilia wheel is completely wrong offset and spindle size for the Honda front end.

They have slip joints and are held with springs. I didnt know FFTP did pipes for the larger ccs, interested to hear what you think of them when its running. Beware that most silencers are very loud and you might want to get something larger if you have cop issues nearby (like I do).

The pipes are actually from jim lomas, fast from the past is a distributer witch is why I had to source the pipes from them, jurisdiction and all that. All the conversion parts for the aprilia hybrid are available from both also. I contacted Jim to find out the development on the pipes, and he informed me that it was done by his good friend Wayne wright,(gp engineer) who is one of the guys behind the two stroke shop rs500gp. So Wayne would of gave Jim the spec sheets to re make the pipes. So these pipes were developed for the original 485cc I would say. I don't know if he relalised I knew that. They might be slightly big for the 421, but some of the guys from the original TSS days witch are now running 421's they seemed to run well. Better to big than to small and putt a hole in a piston, plus if i ever want to go bigger shouldn't be a drama.

This is the revised project, sure it may look crazy but like I stated I must build what I want as its my finel road bike/ racer build, so may as well be very difficult. The aprilia was a sure bolt in, yes, but this will mean a lot more to me when finished. Always wanted a tz250, maybe for ten years or so, but never knew if I could live with one! This way after all the hard work of trying to make the 421 fit, and unforunatly a bit of tz geometry lost, it will still be almost just as lite, and have the same power roughly as a standard tz, but running on pump fuel to begin with. I saw this bike come up for sale from a guy from my racing club, and was running a cr500 motor running in a supermono class, so when I seen it come up for sale I had to buy it, because when are you going to see a tz250 3yl for sale with no motor. A complete one fetches around $20,000 here in oz now. Finally I have a customer spec grand prix racer chassis, the real thing. My favourite era, the rainey and kosinski days.

As you can see the major problem is the pipe clearance for the front wheel, which need to be decently modified. but luckily iam not the first to attempt this and there is good info on this forum.
Oh and just added a picture of the trx racer, Yamaha fans and all. Just fixed after nice little crash at last round. You can see on youtube (trx850 crash).

Looks very very trick. Nice work.
Tolerance looks to be very tight potentially when the forks are compressed, will the pipes clear the front wheel.
And consideration for the cooling, will you be running 2 narrow radiators left and right of the pipes or one above.
Love your work.

This should be a damn weapon when its finished,if the standard of the previous bikes are anything to go on,then its going to be stunning as well!
