Just how bad can the inside of a 'sound tank' actually be?

In Canada, we still have some fuels available without ethanol. I will soon be testing a custom '83-'85 fibreglass tank coated by AirTECH. If it works well without blistering, that'll be great news for those of us in Canada who can buy these "decent", and I hesitate to use that word, fuels.

OK, for completeness this is an example of an Indian made tank... prepare yourself for your best head shaking...
These are Norbos sale photos of the new tanks most recently discussed here:
(and no i dont know if they come with the rear rubber mount from Norbo, but the one I bought from another seller didnt, tho I know Hi-Level list these repro rubbers in their inventory now)
and of course my photo from earlier:
As you can see there is a huge difference in the two versions, not just in how they are made but also very much in how they look. FWIW people who have tried the Indian tanks have complained they dont fit over the frame properly, and looking at the pics you can see why.
Hopefully anyone looking for a new RDLC tank tank sees this thread, Id hate to see someone buy one of those Indian tanks and make it fit and then try to pass the bike off as a restored original bike :/

Jon what did you use to cut the tank in half? Thinking of doing some exploring on the LC tank I've got and want to make the thinest cut I can if (if) can TIG it back together again. If not, well I'll be shopping at Lea Norbos. Cheers.

Scott, really I'd just buy a new one if you can, it's peace of mind...
I used a thin grinding disk in a 4.5" grinder, nothing too special. just drew the line and rotated it around while cutting. you could use a dremel or a smaller air grinder for a thinner cut of course, but my Metabo 'thin' disks are quite thin.
