Clear coat

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sat Jul 25, 2015 11:45 am

Want to clear coat the wheels b4 putting the tires on. Photo attached. Comparing RS Bike paint (a 2 part clear coat epoxy) which costs $26 & $38 to ship vs. VHT $12 rattle can but see other forms mention it yellows after 2000kms. Anything better?

Learnt Lordco sells Delfleet Evolution clear coat paint (F3921) was highly recommended, by a local auto paint shop for its UV resistance, but only sold in the gallon. Next was the Omni line MC770 in the quart for $64 (hardener incl.)

I was also recommended to use Sharkhide aluminum protectant - apprently its combo of acrylic resins. Its recommended to wear an respirator while applying it. KBS looks interesting.

Not sure if this is available in Canada, but Spray Max 2k is supposed to be very durable. It sprays out of a rattle can, but it is supposed to rival spray gun applications...

The more toxic it is, the more likely it is to meet your expectations.
