Fairing Bracket 1985 Cdn - 1990 Dims

#1 Post by Redline Junkie » Sun Mar 22, 2015 11:49 pm

Hello

Does anyone have a Straight Fairing Bracket for a full fairing model RZ350 that you can get some dims off of for me. I know one of mine is bent but not sure how much it is out. The "good" one I have measures 12" outside to outside on the blinker mounting end. The problem I have run into is the lower triple from the R1 is hitting the bracket.

Part 2 question, has anyone mounted the R1 front end on a full fairing model? Will it fit between the fairing and bracket? I would hate to find out the hard way it will not fit.

Rob

Rob Ive got 2 nearly perfect "bird cages" here for '85. One was 11 1/2 the other was 11 1/4 wide.Id guess a half inch tolerence with these frame would be ok.
Looking ar your pic,at the mount to frame,it does look alittle tweeked there?
I also have a perfect RZ500 bird cage & although they're slightly different where you measured from,it was around the 11 1/2 wide too.
Id swap this 500 one for a 350 one if anyone interested?

Thanks LB, the one pictures has been bent before by the looks of it. The one I was planning on using is just over 10" and will need some work.

Thanks

Every one of these Ive ever owned seems to have been bent. What I tend to do now is fit the bodywork starting at the belly and work out where it needs to be bent to make the bodywork fit nd not look lopsided. Its takes a while but it seems to be the only way as the belly is the only part that is solidly fixed to the frame and those mounts dont get trashed in crashes as such. Probbaly wont help your build Rob, but it seems the only way with these old parts that have led a few lives already :/

On my recent 1988 rebuild I had 3 sets of fairing parts and brackets to choose from. With slightly bent /repaired frame brackets, repaired loose brackets and repaired panels it has been tedius with all available parts tried for best fit. Now its starting to get warmer here I hope to get some paint on the plastic work in the near future.

I remember buying a new cage back in the day and blown away at the cost of $119. If they were still available I'd buy 5 at that price.

I have what I believe to be a straight one. The upper fairing fit perfectly as well as turn signals and mirrors. I can get measurements tomorrow.
