LED Headlight Bulb

#1 Post by Hooligan » Tue May 09, 2017 2:16 am

Has anyone tried one of these LED headlight bulbs? This looks like it may fit into an LC or 31K RZ headlight.

I run this syle bulbs in my 350 and 2 500s, I like them because they dont have fans, The copper braid cools the bulb,
This is not the actual kit, Just an example of the kit http://www.xtremediesel.com/putco-27000 ... fgod_60C5A" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That bulb is $170. And it requires special connector to attach.

I was more looking for a drop in solution, which the one in the OP looks to be. Not to mention it costs about $12. Can buy quite a few of those for the $170 the other bulb costs.

Maybe if you read what I posted it might make a little more sense, I said I use this style, Not that actual kit.

I got a set of 2 bulbs for $70, Proper leds, Not that cheap chinese shite that will go on fire....

Led bulbs get insanely hot, Trying to keep them cool is a problem

There you go. That's why I use the kit I use. The braided copper cools the bulb without any fans etc that most use. The braid fits in a headlight and zero problems on three bikes so far.
I would be very cautious about using cheap Chinese crap because of fan fails and overheating.

I bought some cheapie LED bulbs on e-bay for maybe $10-$15 each and they work pretty well. Not fantastic but much better than the original bulbs. The technology is advancing rapidly. The bulbs I bought six months ago might be obsolete now.

I ended up buying these

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01F35 ... UTF8&psc=1

They were $59 cdn for a pair. Don't seem to be able to buy them individually. Anyway that is only $30 each and one will go in my LC and the other in my FZ.

Upon first examination they appear very solidly built and are quite a lot heavier than I had expected. The brass cooling weaves are pretty neat. The bulb fit straight into the FZ housing and plugged in no problem. These things are insanely bright. Nearly burned my retinas out the first time I looked at them.

For the price seem like a good mod compared to the OEM style 60w bulbs.

check out advmonster.com they have a good selection of led bulbs. i have a first gen h4 and it is a tight fit but works well. the low beam is bright with a sharp cut off and the high is ok. the high beam pattern is very wide, like having three headlights but could use more depth. the native bulb or version 3 should be even better.
