Additional Cooling Inlet

#1 Post by lil_cons » Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:19 pm

Just wondering peoples thoughts/theories on adding a couple of extra Coolant Inlets at the rear of the cooling jacket on either the rear facet, or the outer angled facet?

My thinking is, it could be beneficial in getting water through the outer Cylinder gallery nearer to the Exhaust-side cooling Jacket?
Has this been done before? and is it at all worth the hassle? More modern two strokes often have inlets directly into the jacket, playing around with designing my own RZ350 head got me thinking just how much of a pain controlling the coolant flow direction is when the water is introduced into the head only.

This Idea could well be pointless, but I thought I'd gauge Peoples thoughts and opinions.

If anyone has done this I'd love to know.

I think you will gain not much to nothing from that.
The most important thing you want to cool is the cylinder head. Coming a near as possible to the spark plug is a good thing.
