Good morning
The parts fiche shows no gasket between the cylinder head and the thermostat housing. Mine is leaking when I filled it with antifreeze. The manual does not show using any kind of sealant on the connection but I do not see how two pieces of metal will seal themselves. Am I missing something here? Should I be using permtex to seal the surfaces? Thanks

Re: Sealing the Thermostat housing
The seal is a rubber gasket that surrounds the thermostat, The thermostst fits into the seal and that gets compressed when you tighten it all up.

Re: Sealing the Thermostat housing
There's someone on here that had taken the housing off, and machined a groove for an o-ring.

Re: Sealing the Thermostat housing
That would be the perfect solution. If you want to run without a stat, something needs to provide the seal.justind97 wrote:There's someone on here that had taken the housing off, and machined a groove for an o-ring.
Re: Sealing the Thermostat housing
You should be using the thermostat and it's rubber seal.
Which (the rubber ring) is the same part as that found on a Saab 900 or 9000.
Likely others as well. But that's what I have on hand.
Beyond that, Goop the hell out of the flange .. and hope
