How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
Here is a vid that shows how to remove the ethanol (usual 10% content) to create pure fuel. Found this on the 2stroke World site for the DIY Youtube link. Mid way the vid appears to be stalled but it's not. Interesting method using a couple jerry cans and tubing. Appearently ethanol is a leading cause for pre-denotation. Anyone experince that due to the addition of ethanol?

Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
I use the pure-gas website to find stations that sell ethanol free fuel and skip this step.
Red/White US '84, Spec II pipes, Y-boot w/K&N, Fox Shock, Mikuni carbs?
Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
I only put Shell V-Power in my bike, the only fuel I can find that has no ethanol in it (at least in Canada).
Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
I use the V Power too, but nice to know we are not hooped.

I think I would put a small sample in a glass and make sure all the water is out.

Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
About 10 miles from me there is the Firebird International Raceway. And across the street is a gas station that sells 100 and 110 octane racing (leaded) fuel at a drive up pump. About USD$8.00 per gallon.
But I would prefer 94 at most stations even though it's CND$1.59 per ltr. At least it's available in many places.
I guess it's Canadian envy, except for the cold and snow.

Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
Went surfing on Dec 26 and I did not shovel one flake of snow last year (but we did have a monsoon season). Less mold in AZ or flu. 105 huh? Love to try a tank of that! I was advised I could get local av fuel that is appearently leaded. The 94 costs $22 Cnd for RD fill. I'm sure its cheaper below the 49th parallel or in a different province.
Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
You can just run castor oil and not worry about it. Mineral oil wont mix with ethanol, but castor will. Plus it smells good! I run 93 octane with ethanol in it at 40.0:1 in my CR500 with castor and have never had a problem.

Do you castor in the injector or just premix? If I could run castor in the injector I'd be down with that, but not premixing.Zombie wrote:You can just run castor oil and not worry about it. Live long, and smoke 'em if you got 'em!
Re: How 2 purify fuel by removing the ethanol
I premix, because the CR500 is a dirtbike without oil injection, but several companies like Klotz make castor that will work just fine through an injection system.
