Bicarb soda blasting.

#1 Post by L.B » Fri Apr 01, 2016 9:16 pm

Just had to put this out there,this is the best 50 bucks ive ever spent. If you have an average size compressor & for smaller sized jobs you can use this blue point (snap on) blaster to clean most anything.
Using bicarb soda,it's environmentally friendly & easy clean up. For stubborn clean ups replace soda with blasting media etc & away you go. I had this pair of carbs soaking for weeks in degreaser but 2 mins with soda blaster & they are like brand new!

Nice. I saw a 25 kg bag of baking soda for sale the other day and wondered how good it would be.

I used it a lot way back when I bought it, but just with sand. It came with a removable cover for the tip that had different ends for flat, inside corner, outside corner etc. and a bag to catch the sand. I'll have to try it with soda next time I need to clean something.

Air Boy out of Denmark do one, I have one

The difference is it is venturi fed as opposed to gravity fed

It works well however you need an water trap on the compressor or the venturi will clog

The Snap Off one is $190 new

Fleabay do one similar from about $62 inc postage

Oh and it seems in Aus that Woolies and Aldi both do 500g of cheapo bicarbonate soda for $1.79.

But horsey places sell it as a water additive:
eg. 25kg is $23.85 here: http://www.sydneyequestriansupplies.com ... -25kg.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
