Looks like it's coming along nicely. Tiny bike, but just as much work as the big ones. Do you find it more difficult with the small parts?

It isn't any more difficult, the parts are solid as this was built just like a "real" bike!
I need to get it finished and off the bench, I have my sons Aprilia RS250 to finish up, then an 86 GSXR750 and hopefully a RGV250 VJ21 will be getting some love!

You need all 4 signals?

The VJ21 seal cowl is rare and expensive. Only ever seen them on the SP. There is one in the UK now, but the seller won't ship outside the UK. I asked because I was hoping to buy it. Worth the effort if you know someone there that can help http://www.ebay.ca/itm/221970713882?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes, at present need all 4 but just the fronts would do also as I might have a lead on a pair of rears. I saw the seat cowl.
If you want it, I am from the UK and can have a friend or family member get it for you and ship it over but the price of it is crazy!

That cowl will hit 250 Pounds before it's done. Maybe more. As I mentioned, very rare and priced accordingly.

Gecko in the UK had one. It was around 300 Pounds. The site is down now, but it might be an option for your signals when it's up again.http://www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EBay seller miyabeepluscoltd-jp often has RGV parts available. No signals right now.

YSR50 build

Post by expat »

Back to the YSR, I fitted more of the bodywork today, installed the top end last week plus a couple of other odd jobs finished.

I need to repainted the tank as there was a slight reaction and some of the paint has bubbled slightly, hoping to get that done and the decals applied this week.. Trying to get this one done before the end of January!!

Links don't work? I considered putting a bigger motor but this is a restoration rather than a rider so figured I would stay stock with only period correct upgrades?

Really nice job you are doing there I would really like to get one of those for myself aswell.
They're reselling for good prices usually 2 - 2.5 k considering what they actually are that's what has stopped me from having one in the garage.
Friends think I'm crazy they don't see the attraction or too insecure about their masculinity to admit their cool.
There's no real rationale why I should want one, outside of the fact that it's probably a barrel of monkeys & a mile of smiles and for attention whores you probably get more attention on a YSR than virtually any motorcycle you could possibly ride.

Ugh! Started installing the graphics and found the rear lower to be too small. The larger red decal on the lower is as far back as it could go and if I had fitted the smaller one the correct distance from the rear of the panel, the gap would have been huge. Also the piece above the vent hole is curved and it should have been straight, I think they were scanned from decals already on the panel.
I have contacted the seller to see if they will sell me some vinyl in the matching Red so I can hand cut some.. No reply yet but fingers crossed!
