Project Husaberg FE 650 !!!
I bought this bike really cheap ,
I know it's a four stroke but I was always on a look out for one of these Viking bikes because they perform good power
specially the 650cc.
So here is the bike : fully operative , needs some trick to start it as a left kicker.
This bike will be a keeper , I don't intend to use it for enduro trail but really like to wheely off with it on the street for time being not SM ,
so I decided to do a full engine rebuilt , powder coat frame , new plastics , new rubbers , stock exhaust headers / silcencer the usual work ........
A good friend will help me with the engine.
So the project starts ......
This bike was never used for what it was built for because the frame is in top condition , no abuse , no bents etc....
Tranny was in good condition , new nicasil on another alloy sleeve , crank fully rebuilt , welded to hold & balanced ,
new rod , new piston - rings , new valves ,new valve springs , new bearings etc.....

Nice project Petros! I love these big singles and apart from the engine this one looked good, but they always have a secret it seems...

Update , engine completely redone with most parts in new ..... fires & works like a charm , frame powder coated ,
forks & rear shock completely redone , new plastics , alloy Italian hand made race tank , wheels bearings , spokes redone & new rubbers ,
electrics & stator upgrade new , brakes , new headers & exhaust , new seat cover , new graphics etc....
still needs some final TLC mainly cosmetics here and there and unfortunately this project will be finished and I will need another project .

Took her out for a spin today and the bike is REALLY FAST
In order to start it though you have to be a guru with your left leg , once you get the hang of it then it's quite easy.
I'm really happy because this bike came out really good and really cheap !!!!

Bike easier to start if you stand next to it and kick.

why these Swiss bikes were manufactured this way
to have a left kick start ,
and why not make them with kick start on right side as normal.
The reason is that when at race ENDURO mode where bike is at stand and you have to start it & go ,
it is much faster for handling to start the bike with your left leg , then shift gear with same leg and go….
Instead for the right kicker , the rider will have to start the bike with the right leg then
switch leg in order to shift gear and go.
Saying all above , these bikes were made to start with the left leg
which I should get used to as requires practice….

I never heard that Petros. I had KTM LC4s and everyone started them with the right foot off the bike, its the simplest way really... you will struggle to left foot kick a big tall bike off road I fear... you may prove me wrong, but...

Grew up back in the day where most of our bikes ( Ossa's & Bultaco's ) had the kicker on the left. We used our right foot.

I had a 550, racing enduro here in sweden, love the power of those bikes!
I guess you got used to the left kicker by now, but if it's tuned right its easy to start, much harder to start a old bigbore 2stroke with left kick.
I assume you know this, but maby others have problem starting..
it have automatic decompression, to activate it just fold out kickpedal and give it a full Kick the whole stroke/travel, if it dont start you let the kickpedal go all the way back and give it a full Kick again, always make full kicks the whole travel, dont try to find compression-stroke and go from there (like you start a old harley) you just brake the kickpedal..
If it's Hard to start anyway, check valvelash, its a common problem.
