Concerning the brake caliper people often have that problem and I've seen quite a lot being milled on the back side.
What you can do if the fork is wide enough is to use a spacer on the disc&caliper to get more clearance to the spokes.
The other possibility is special SuperMoto calipers like Spiegler offers. The downside on these: They cost a fortune and often have a limited choice for pad types.

"Shortening" a moto cross fork for SuperMoto purpose is quite easy. If you disassemble the internals, they contain a few bushes that can be changed (longer or shorter) to give you a different static position. Note that you need to shorten the spring bush for the same amount.
I did that on my KTM 360 SX (5 cm lower) to enhance laptimes (you can brake harder before rear starts to loose contact if center of mass is lower).
The shock was send to a service provider who rebuild it and did the shortening.

Great advise there , I considered to get the caliber milled too , as to spacers no space there , very very tight.
Then I started to obtain quotes for SM Beringer brake set up ,
man those go for redicilous money they sell as new , I've been quoted 1800 euro [smilie=compress[1].gif] [smilie=eek.gif] and that is for the rotor , caliber , brake pump only.

Then I considered the cost involved as I needed to buy , FCR Keihin carb , Acrapovic titanium exhaust , throttle with cables to fit FCR ,
so instead I bought a complete bike with all these parts available ready for swap for much much much less and I will end up with two bikes :smt002
as the enduro parts off the 650 would just sit in my storage parts just incase I would decide to get the bike swapped for dirt again which I doubt due to power.
Also the front off the 400SM is for supermoto with special triples to go in the combination and beringer set is there too.

Target for my 650 is a race competition bike with complete SM set up , no lights only number plate.

Quite a few guys have spaced their front wheels offset to get the brake disk moved away from the spokes, I did some milling and also a lot of work on my bracket to make my caliper work, but I also added a 5mm spacer to the disk, spoked wheels and 4 pot calipers are a pain, but worth it when you feel that brake working :)

Anyway, the full front end of the 400 will be perfect on the 650. The 650 will be a great SM and will be a little more manageable on the SM track than pure off road im betting. Excited to hear what you think when youve ridden it Petros, also, can you put it on the road? It would make a great town bike...

Yes Jon :smt023 you got my point , easy swap now and
I believe that after I replace the stock Delorto carb & stock silencer exhaust off the 650
and install the FCR 42 & Acrapovic silencer the bike will increase power , now I'm after
titanium valve springs & valves to try to make the engine bullet proof.

Yes both bikes 650 & 400 are registered and number plated and can be put on the road.
Mainly I want to do some Sumo track sessions with the 650 which I've never experienced before.

Some nice full throttle vids to follow soon :smt005

The KFX 4strokes have a too slim swinger for SuperMoto, so I had one on my welding table to widen it some 10 mm. Told the guy it'd be at own risk and he ought to carefully use it.
The bike is ridden off road, the weld is still in place and the rider is still alive and healthy.

So if its too narrow you can consider cutting and re-welding it ....

Martin , thanks for the advise but I would never cut my swingarm to widen it [smilie=yikes.gif] the rim fits but tight incase not would use
the spare excel rear rim 4,50 inch fm the 400.

So here is where we stand today.

thats why quite a few of the older KTMs run the 4.25" rim, and thats the one that i managed to slide into my XT500. 5inch would be amazing if you can line the chain run up Petros, fingers crossed for you.

Yeah my KTM 360 had a 4.25x17 but the 160 slick contour was deformed by that slim rim and the behavior on the very edge of the available friction was "instable" to say the least.
I later changed to a 5x17 which was much better!

Disclaimer: You'll only notice this in hard race use on the very last 0.5 s of your laptime.
So for going slower or for street use forget everything said above...
