Petros,
I rode my buddies Aprilia RXV 550 a few years ago. It was a handful to have 70hp at a twist of the wrist.....but tons of fun to ride!! :smt003 I think your bike is probably setup better for offroad than his was. Good looking bike you have there! :smt023
Here's a short clip of me riding the RXV. He had the steering damper turned up too much. I had to adjust on the fly so I could make the corners.

Thanks for the Video Charlie :smt023 The Aprilia RXV 550 has also ton of torque too and 70bhp twin.

I have road/owned lots of single bikes , 2strokes Cr 500 , RM 250 , Four strokes KTM's 620 - 640 - 690 , Husqvarna 610 etc........

This one ( Berg 650 ) is No1 for me ,
I've never riden a single bike with so much scary torque [smilie=yikes.gif] [smilie=yikes.gif] [smilie=yikes.gif] [smilie=yikes.gif] [smilie=yikes.gif]

I'd say the problem with this bike is that 6th gear pulls same like 1st gear honestly......

Here is an evening 19:00 ride on my vacation just to get my blood flowing for beer drinking after.

I rode the berg all summer and many more during my summer vacation , now that's over
so I decided that this bike performs so much raw power that for the dirt you need to have psychological issues also I don't have a project.

Started searching on the net for ideas and I found my dream bike :smt007 :smt007
Also I do not have a supermoto bike so good idea to have some track days.
Image

So I start collecting stuff........alloy tank , I had another and sold it and these are rear to find.
Image

Found a genuine brand new front 17inch KTM 3,5 wheel
Image

After lots of SM forum reading these bikes suffer with a non cush hub rear , so I got a KTM LC4 640 cush hub.

Image

On order a excel rear hub 5 inch wide and alpina spokes.

Still on search for brake caliber , rotor and more SM stuff.

Fantastic you found the cush drive hub, I dont have one in my XT and wish that I did. Looks like you need the expensive brake setup next, beware those disks rust as they are high carbon steel but you can still buy them new i think.

Yes Jon , a cush hub is a need for these mono bikes.

When your ready I could try to locate a rear cush hub with sprocket drive for you.

So here goes a demonstration of how to start this bike cold with flat Timberland shoes :smt030

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-lEzd2 ... e=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now back to my motard progress , all I can say is that you can spend silly money to convert a dirt bike to sumo bike ,
better off to buy one ready then to convert that's for sure.
Those cush hubs , 17inch wheels , spokes , rubbers , adaptors , brake calibers , brake pump , Acrapovic , FCR's etc... cost huge money !!!

So no alternative then to hunt down for good used parts to save a few.

Was able to find a four pot Brembo front caliber complete with front pump off a KTM SMC 690 ,
rear in gold color too , rear sprocket came with cush hub and rear rotor.

Image

I've completed my rear wheel Excel 17 X 5 inch.

Image

Bought from Ebay Germany front rotor 320mm
Image

Now still on my to do list are rubbers , caliber adaptor to fit 320mm rotor , waiting a reply on a Acrapovic exhaust , maybe if I find a good cheap Keihin FCR 41 , front motard fender , open fork guards.

I don't want to spoil your brand new disc, but if you wanna use it on track, you better get a floating one.

I had the pictured one on my KTM 360 SX for some time. Mainly kart track use.
The disc was not too bad, but it developed cracks at the ends of the slots after heavy use.
After that I changed to a Brembo floating cast iron ring and that lasted for years without issues.

Loved the starting video. If you fit the FCR it will start in one kick, I know my old KTM 620SC you could start in slippers with the FCR fitted... no kickbacks or worries. loved that setup.

Looking at your rear wheel, is that a KTM drill pattern or Husqvarna? I should check what ive got but it doesnt look quite KTM to me... which might well be good news for me as Ive a set of Husky rims here, but no one wants to sell me spokes apart from Buchanan in the USA, hmm....

Disks on these bikes are a nightmare to source. The big brakes range from Beringer to ebay cheapies via Braking and KTMs own, and you have to get matching parts mostly along the way as some are 310 and some 320mm. I went for the floating disk on my XT as that's what id had before, but i think its a copy of the Braking disk as its quite loose and rattly even when new and I dont remember the Braking version being like that.

FYI Rubbers I found for around Au$50 online, cheaper in the USA but post is killer. Bearings is a bit more fun with that 3205 in the cush, its not cheap... but the 6205s in the wheel are :) Plenty of ADVRider threads on the bearings, seems the 5205 is a fit as well for the 3205, and some 3205s are labelled as 6205s... bizarre... the one in my cush is like that Ive noticed.

Since you have the USD forks will the later style KTM caliper adaptor work? cheap on ebay now as those are plentiful. If you get stuck email Talon and see if they do one for your setup, they usually have a CNC file for most things.

Why are you thinking of changing the fork guards? to clear the caliper/disk?

Im sure you know this but.... Be careful buying the FCR41, most that you see used are off something else and can have led a hard life or are not the version that you need, which is probably an 'MX'. There was a guy selling them on US ebay a few years back and the pics were of the carb with his Bentley in the background, that said enough about the money in used bike parts to last a lifetime LOL! I did have a couple of FCRs i bought for my Duke 640 when i had it a few years back, a 40ish sized version (Honda CRF brand new unit, cheap to buy in the USA but not a 41 as advertised, hmm) and a nice used 41 but I sold them as they were too big for my XT, which runs a TM36 pumper... Anyway, sadly they are gone tho now or i could have hooked you up. Back in the day I got my 41 from Allens in the UK and it came jetted and ready to go, not cheap but worth the hassle. On the Dyno it was clean as a whistle with the airbox lid off, cheapest and quickest dyno ive ever had... oh and it made 51bhp at the wheel, not bad for an ex rally 620. Allens supplied a push pull throttle as well, it was total junk and I went back to my quick action unit with single pull and never had an issue.

All this reminiscing makes me want another big KTM.... LOL!

further development to my motard project.
Martin MK your advise about the 320mm rotor was well taken under consideration and therefore will be returned back
in order to exchange it with this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/142072347018?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I don't actaully need the 320mm any more and get a floating 300mm for spare.

Also the gold four spot front Brembo caliber system I've boughtof KTM SMC can not fit , caliber is too thick :smt010
Image

After many attempts and tests to perform my 650 to motard
Image

After lots of thinking , and hunting for parts which end up more expensive if you buy separated
I wanted to have an Enduro bike too but not as such powerfull as the 650 for the dirt tight trails ,
so I bought a FE 400 ..... and with all the parts will convert the 650 to SM.

The 400 has everything I will need such as Supermoto complete front which is actualy shorter then Enduro ,
FCR 42 , Acrapovic Titanium silencer , supermoto Beringer 6pot brake set up with front brake pump
My plan now is to switch all complete front , swing arm from the 400 to 650 and all Enduro stuff off the 650 to the 400

Image

Image

As I have purchased my SM wheels already these excel rims 17 x 3 & 17 x 4.5 with oem cushion hub only painted blue colors
will be soon up for sale , if any one interested ?? PM me same goes for the KTM gold Brembo brake set.
