I have been slowly collecting parts for one of my RGV's to put out a reliable 70hp at the rear wheel... There are 4 ECTA standing start mile events next year in Ohio....I'd like to represent the RGV for the first time with the crowd there.
I think the biggest performance improvement came from fitting 5 mm longer rods. That and different pistons was the only difference between my 2013 and 2014 engine and gained 10 MPH. Pistons have 3,5 mm higher pin the other 1.5 mm was made up with base gaskets.
Heads are modified standard with centre plug 10.5 cc, squish 0.7 mm, carbs 38 mm VM mikuni with adjustable power jets. Zeel ignition. TYGA pipes but a mate has JM on his and that makes better HP. My new pipes are a modified for methanol version of the JM pipes. Ive heard that gutted standard Suzuki pipes work well if you want to keep the standard look.
Use Wiseco or Wossner pistons. Porting is STD apart from a bit of a clean up, power valves are locked open.
EGT gauge and adjustable power jets makes for easy tuning once you have a good base line.
Use lots of the best oil you can get. I run the pump set at 50% and 30:1 premix. 3+ miles of WOT needs lots of lube. For 1 mile just pump should be OK but a bit in the tank wouldn't hurt.
I use 100 octane Premium Unleaded, it contains 10% ethanol. Best HP pump gas. Failing that Avgas comes a close 2nd. Ethanol is good for piston cooling and contains oxygen. If using ethanol gas change your needles and seats to non viton ones and check that your fuel line is also suitable.
Any more I can help you with just ask.
Long Live 2 Strokes.
