One of my long term projects...... been collecting parts/saving money for this for quite a few years....
Other projects keep getting moved in front of it, but it will get a total rebuild from the bare frame up one of these days...

very cool. Its amazing how if you search long enough you can find almost anything on sites like ebay etc. What would have been impossible to restore a few years back can be done if you have enough time it seems.

Without Ebay and forums, one of my childhood dream bikes would always be just a dream. All my GS searches were from the States.... but parts for my RGV for example, have came from Japan/Australia/New Zealand/UK (Ebay/internet), since that model was never sold here. And the Dymag wheels I just got for my RZ, would have been impossible as well, without asking if a bike might be parted out if not sold on Ebay...

I want to build it, not as a Cooley replica, but more like.....well, like a cross of a street bike/endurance racer/AMA superbike thats lost somewhere close to 1982....

I'm pretty cheap, so I'm always waiting till I find a deal that I know cant be found again.....
Still looking for a early/mid 80's TZ spondon style rear rotor for the GS... And two more Spondon two piston calipers for my RZ.....a seat for my GT...
The searching never ends.

I like your way of thinking, and your right it never ends. I also like the idea of a non specific Cooley replica, that's been beat to death by many. Its still cool, but may as well do something different. Like you said similar to a old SUZUKA inspired endurance bike ,make it look like something that was actually produced back then with all the great little bits you have acquired. I do like the old KERKER exhaust though, Ill be dammed if those things were not brutal on the ears when uncorked, but they do look perfect on the old big bore Kawi's and Suzooks. I'd like to one day do a twin shock GPZ1100 type bike as well. The heavyweight 80s bikes truly are the muscle cars of the bike world.

I love it :smt007 just the way it sits! The wheels really set that bike off! Period header & shocks, look great! Keep us posted on yer bike. When you get the big bore kit, smoothies & cams that thing will definitely have the bite to back up that bark!!! :smt033

The other side....
The wheels on it now are EPM's too, but the front is a 19....the other set I have is 18 front/rear.
29 smoothbores now, with 13 inch rotors of a source yet know...but believed to be EPM also. Thinking I will move the upper shock mount forward as well, along with stiffening the frame where needed.
Biggest reason for rebuild is 10 PSI in cylinder #1.... :smt022

I love old bikes and that's a nice one. I have always loved the old Kawasaki 900's Z1's and even the standard 900's of that era. They had a great looking teardrop fuel tank and after tearing off the stock pipes to replace with aftermarkets they looked even better. My best friend had one and used to do really long wheelies on it with me on the back. Much easier with a little weight on the back ya know :smt003 Looks like you got some rearsets on there. I'll bet that bike came with a center stand too, O do I miss the old days lol.
