looks like the GT SUZI needs quite a bit of work to road worthy.

Yea.... It started as a bare early 72 frame with a radiator still attached.... It's not much more now, but very slowly collecting parts to make one complete cafe racer. Holding it up is a 82 GSX1100 swing arm, 86 GSXR1100 wheels and front end, vintage Fox Shocks... It will have a modified/braced frame as well. Have a late 72 engine on the shelf, but needs just about EVERYTHING redone on it... :smt009
Cases are good though... :smt003

Nice. 18 years? Shame on you. Time to ride.

I'm surprised the grips aren't melted off the bars, looks like it was in a garage where the fire was put out before it got down to the bike (or 25 years in the desert sun).

You are right dead on the money there.... :smt023

This bike was moved from Indiana to Arizona in 1990....parked outside after the riding season there....and then left to die.
The owner died last year, and his nephew from Indiana brought the bike back here, to try and bring it back to life.
It sat in his garage for a year, when he figured it was too much to fix without really doing anything to it.
I originally bought it as a parts bike for my other GS1000. But I hate stripping a bike apart for parts, without giving it one last chance to come back to life.
Long story short...after messing with it for about an hour....I had it idling at 1000RPM, as smooth as a kitten, without a drop of gas or oil leaking out anywhere (never even pulled the carbs off). All I did was pull the mouse nest and air filter out, change the oil and filter.
Checked compression after it cooled just a bit and found 130PSI in all 4 cylinders....
So now it's a project and not parts.

Title was long lost, but I went through all the legal hoops and now have a new Indiana title for it....Now that it's legally mine, it's time to bring it back to usefulness once again.

Swiss cheese :smt012

After I tried cleaning it with vinegar that is....must be about 50 holes throughout the bottom, and even some right on the top.

The spoke rear wheel is a 18X3.5 Sun rim, off a old drag bike that was also left for dead some time back.
Depending on what it will cost, I'll use the original rear sprocket from the GS, or go with a 530 conversion. The drag sprocket will hang on the shelf with my other no longer used parts....
Front rim is a 18X2.75 aluminum Sun to match.....planning on 110X80 front and 150X70 rear tires. A little more rubber than stock at least.

I'll be pulling the engine within the next week or two, then I'll get all the covers off and have a better look inside.
Hoping all I will have to do is check the valve clearances and clean out the sump pickup.... :smt084 [smilie=8-25-03pray.gif]
