Oooh, I love those old Katanas. To me they were the first of the modern sport bikes. Sunken seat, integrated fairing.

This was the first bike i had a ride on - as a passenger. I was 16 years old. It was awesome. Loved bikes after that ride :)

The Kat was my high school dream bike.....I bought my first bike in 1981 (Yamaha XS400) after graduating...Later that fall, I saw the first pictures of the Katana...

I knew one day I had to find one to keep...
In 1986, dream became reality. I've been the custodian of it ever since. All of it still as it left the factory, paint/seat/engine/exhaust/airbox.....

Just finished the paint this week....went back to factory style...
Still need pistons though....

Looks good, Those brake lines are a bit long, I guess with no rad to catch on they are ok tho?

Brake lines originally were for a different bike/caliper...but they were new when I put them on, and haven't rubbed on anything yet. I wanted to paint it as close to the factory color as possible, but wanted to add a bit of a custom color twist to it as well. First I sprayed it silver (after stripping all the paint off first), then I spayed pearl over that, then I covered it with several coats of candy red....two coats of clear....sanded smooth, then two more coats of clear... I put the RDDecals (honda/cbx/stripes) on before the first coat of clear.

Sweet! What are you using for an exhaust?

Supertrapp 6 into 2 stainless.....it's an old, no longer produced system. But it's in great shape and super light weight.
Thought about a Kerker 6 into 1 system with a bigger competition baffle...but the cost is $$$ just for a different way to do the same thing.

This is what they look like...........this was about 8 years ago, when bike still had compression in all 6

GT 750 / RGV 250 / CBX......all awaiting attention...and $$$
