Got the mirrors anodized black, and the adapters powder coated black. The stalks were previousy powder coated. Finally finished, and back on the bike. :smt003

Just some details.

The tailight spacers I made needed to be black. Also found another OEM bracket that had ugly zinc plating.

Yeah, this was going to be my first custom bike with graphics.

But, I changed my mind. Just gonna lay down some black vinyl for contrast using my own pattern ideas.

I've got the sickness, too. But, it's a sickness I can live with. :smt003

Is there a reason you went with a low slung pipe? I would suspect that will be very easy to damage in the event of a fall.

Image

We went with an FMF which is high mounted like this and it seems to tolerate smaller drops with no damage. Am also running a pipe crash protector which helps.

Image

Looking at the two pics I just noticed your pipe runs under the lower frame cradle which greatly reduces ground clearance. I'd have destroyed that pipe in a ride or two because of that. :smt010

Installed a serious headlight bulb. Huge difference in brightness!

Will have to see how hot the housing gets, and will use the battery tender regularly.

For a long time, I've felt a slight click when I turn the bars.

Didn't see anything else, so I pulled it apart to check the head bearings and races.

Image

Image

Bearings and races look okay, but I'd still like to change them as long as it's all apart.

Bad news - my bearing puller doesn't fit between the fork stops.

Image

More bad news - my bearing race tool wouldn't catch the lip of the upper race - so, I could only change the upper bearing.

I'll repack and adjust everything. Hopefully, the click will be gone after all this!

Decided to revamp the rear as well.

Pulled the rear shock to clean it and adjust the preload, compression & rebound (space is limited on the bike).

Image

The first test ride was scary as shit. The handling was completely fucked up. Kept adjusting everything - now it handles great - way better than before.

And that damn click in the head tube is GONE!!! :smt023

Took my wheels & tires to Pro Italia for mounting and balancing.

Their top mechanic took a break from the factory Tuono to work on my WR250 wheels. :smt003

Love it when someone knows how to do things right. Both tires are spot on!

Image

Last time someone else did my tires - the front tube ended up in the back tire and the rear tube in the front!

The white Samco hoses started turning yellow after a couple of months.

Couldn't take it any longer!

Before:

After:

The areas that were covered with hose clamps are still white. Won't be buying white hoses again.
Image

Put on atraumatic hose clamps so the new hoses don't get chewed.
