Botched RD350 rear of frame (PHOTOS)

So I have a 1974 RD350 that the previous owner tried to customize as a cafe racer. Long story short, they hacked the rear of the frame to accommodate a cowling. I have all the original fittings and am looking to restore the bike to stock, or as close as possible. First up then is to repair this botched job. So I need a picture of the 1974 frame as it is in the OEM. Preferably from above or a close view at least. My plan is to cut the piece that's at right angles to the horizontal member and weld it back on to restore its original form. The images show the cuts (circles) and where I plan to weld it back at horizontally (arrows). Unless someone has a better idea? Open to possibilities! Any help/suggestions much appreciated. :smt001

Just go to Ebay and there are some frames for sale with lots of pictures.
Save the pictures to your computer.
I do this sometimes to id mystery parts as well.

Good suggestion! Unfortunately, it's hard to tell what frames are original, which have been modified, etc. Some of the info on Ebay is not very clear!
